Beryl was a 38th anniversary trip - beryl being the 38th wedding anniversary gift (think they mean the semi-precious stone and it was a trip to remember.
First tip - you need a car as its up a hill and at the end of a private road. Second tip - a Sat nav is invaluable.
The House itself is cynosuric - imposing and mysterious - with views over Wells. We were welcomed by Holly (the owner) and Oscar (the owners dog) and treated to tea and cake. There are 13 rooms - all individually styled - we had one called 'Spring' which overlooked Wells. the room was oldly worldly but with all the mod cons - the designer did a very good job. The bed was a 4 poster and quite high up - it needed a small jump to get up, so not suitable for young children and the infirm.
The bathroom was tight and any gentleman needing to go urgently needs to watch his head - not an issue for the ladies.
Breakfast was a treat - you name it, they had it and all served on beautiful china.
The decor in the hotel is as you would expect - excellent - and you cannot stop yourself spending time investigating. Unless you are a prty of 6 or over, they do not do 'dinner', but a mile down the road is 'the Fountain' - a gastro pub. The food is great and you need to book at the week-end.
