“London style and ambience in a rural setting”

The Sheppey Inn in Godney near Glastonbury and Wells is quite unique . From the outside it looks like a regular Somerset country pub , step inside though and the quirky deco and lively ambience immediately suggests something different.
There is always a wide range of excellent well kept local bear and ciders plus some unusual guest ales. The wines are good too. The food is a mixture of traditional and mediterranean, alway of a very high standard utilising local meats and produce.
The service can sometimes be a bit slow at busy times but has improved more recently and the staff are always very friendly.
The setting is picturesque and sitting on the terrace outside by the river on a warm evening watching the sun go down will be memorable.
Oh and on some nights they have great banks so check out their Facebook page for details.
Worth a trip for both locals and visitors to the area .

“Lovely food and people”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

We had a great meal at the Sheppey, the delightful Susie (who's mum should be very proud of her) recommended the Classic Prawn Cocktail which was quiet different, chocked full of tasty seafood, gorgeous! The fish and chips meal was probably the tastiest ever and with a good choice of beers the evening was very enjoyable. The only down side was that Susie turned out to be less delightful at Phucket and beat me in minutes, (I'm not sure that the pucks were equally divided at the start!) Thanks for a nice experience!

“Lovely staff.”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Although I was there for a private birthday party I felt that the Sheppey would be a big asset to any village or town. The food served was imaginative and tasty- especially as a vegetarian I really appreciated a wide choice of options. The staff were on hand to offer advice on the food and at the end of the evening when our taxi firm couldn't be contacted they were only too willing to phone other firms on our behalf.

“Worth finding”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

My wife and I had a meal at The Sheppey on Friday after a hectic week at work. It was busy, lively, fascinating and great fun - really funky, off the wall décor. The food was fantastic, my wife had the cod in pancetta which was perfect (and she should know being a Grimsby lass!) and my fish stew (main course size) was probably the most fantastic fish dish I've ever had. Don't take my word for it, visit this pub. Some people have commented on the time to serve but if you're serving hundreds of people with fantastic freshly-cooked food, a delay is inevitable but if like us, you enjoy people-watching, the wait is welcomed.
