“What a disappointment”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We have been here before and had a really nice meal on our last visit, so we were really looking forward to lunch today. When I asked what the seasonal salad was, I was told it was feta cheese, apple, carrots, green beans, salad leaves, sounded good. What arrived was a salad of mixed leaves, green beans, new potatoes, olives, tomatoes and the smallest amount of brie type cheese I have ever been served, no apple or carrot. The bread which came with it was good though, glad I ordered it or I would have been left hungry. Would not rush back.

“Excellent lunch stop, beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Stopped here for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday. Great sandwich and children's men, excellent value for money. Recommend for anyone visiting the cathedral and bishop's palace area.

“Review of Cafe”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

I want to make it clear that this review is of the café adjacent to the House (which is beautiful). We visited at 4pm on a beautifully sunny Saturday, and the outside seats have a lovely view of the House and garden. The service however was terrible and the quality of the watery tea we were served was very poor, with chipped and dirty crockery. When we arrived we had to clear our own table of plates and cups, and find a waitress to ask for the table to wiped. Wouldn't return or recommend!

“WHERE ARE THE CHIPS!!! THESE WERE NOT CHIPS AND POPCORN!!!!”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Visited from Swindon for a treat over bank holiday. What can I say? The children’s meal was over cooked-it was not edible. 3 chicken pieces so small and crisp so they couldn’t be eaten. The chips were definitely not chips. They were over cooked wedges with piles of salt on them. We ordered 2 extra portions of chips thinking that they were chips. Again over salted wedges and over cooked. The sandwiches were made up on the wrong breads that we had asked for but left it as we did not want to cause any extra work. The sandwiches were nothing special ( tuna mayo ) where the lemon came into it I don’t know and pork that was so fatty could not be eaten either. What is the idea of popcorn on your sandwich plate? Very quirky and very un-necessary. For £24.30 very expensive and a total waste of money. Did mention this to the staff very politely but not at all interested. Spoilt our day of visiting Wells and the Palace. Would certainly not be there again. There is very little choice and I would not recommend this for young families.

“Popcorn and sandwiches”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

I went for lunch with my daughter a few days ago. We both ordered sandwiches and they arrived on the table with a big pile of popcorn and what looked like 4 pea shoots as an accompaniment. Not impressed!
I do find they have just crammed the tables in and as they are all in a long line there is no privacy from the next door table at all.
I shall be giving the popcorn a miss in future and find somewhere else for lunch.
