“Our wedding breakfast ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

From start to finish myself and my wife were very impressed with the entire set up. The day was well organised with professional and attentive staff and the food and service were also excellent.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the George for anyone seeking an enjoyable and fault free day for their wedding venue.

I have used this hotel regularly for business but I think I will seek a better option in future. This hotel has a prime location but needs better management. Arrived on a very warn night in June. The room was meant to be a single, at a cheaper group rate but that went down the tubes so I was offered a double but not at the same rate. I assumed this would be more room, not so? The room at the top floor took imagination and orientation skills to find. It was like a hot press inside, with hardly room to swing a cat, assuming a cat would bother to stay there. i went in search of the source of heat. Easy open the window, restricted to 100 mm in case a cat might get in. The bathroom towel rail was hot (no towels on it) so turned that off. Put on the air-con to cool the room control were different model took some translation and the bathroom extract was on a motion sensor, no time delay! Strange heater fan on the wall was warm when on cool mode, forget that. Then the wardrobe door was hot! looked inside, an ironing board, iron and a black box thought it was a night safe- no its a bloody fridge belting out heat in a closed wooden box, no ventilation. Is this a health hazard, electrical hazard, fire hazard or signs of a new form of intelligence. Breakfast was closing up at 8.30 am, no decent bread , suspect fruit choice burnt croissants and sweaty pastry. Why do people heat pastries?!
Staff were pleasant but not helpful. There is a premier inn opening up the road, George hotel be warned.

Room Tip: no comment

Thank you for your review. At the George we pride ourselves on offering high standards of service and good value for money as it is important that our guests are happy and keep returning. I was therefore most disturbed to be made aware of the issues you encountered during your stay at this Hotel. Please be assured I will investigate each of the issues in turn and will put into place an action plan for my management team to solve any problems following your observations.Having said this, I fully appreciate that any measures we may take subsequent to receiving your comments can be of little comfort and I therefore must offer my most sincere apologies for the annoyance and disappointment you were caused. I do hope your faith in The George Hotel will soon be restored.

Met up with some friends the first weekend that The George went a large carte. Our group had mixed feelings about the food, size of portions were small but quality was high.
We liked our room, initial worry about noise from bar directly outside was unwarranted.
Very clean, comfy and no complaints regarding room size either.
Staff very welcoming, asked for feedback on food and service, seemed grateful for honest views.
We shall return and imagine it's very cosy during winter months.

The location was excellent, but the 3rd floor room I had was way too warm and the ac was ineffective. WiFi was spotty as well. Would I stay there again? Give me a different room with the aforementioned issues solved and yes, I would.

Very good location, Litchfield is good for my husband as it is mainly flat. The George is well situated in the heart of the town in a pedestrian pricinct near all restaurants and shops. Very good choice of food at breakfast and dinner. They were refurbishing the restaurant when we left.

All the staff were helpful and very cheerful. Our upgade room with dressing gowns slippers water and chocolates was the bees knees and very comfortable bed and spacious room and bathroom would stay again

Room Tip: choose a upgrade room on the south side and on second floor

Right in the centre of Lichfield, room was spacious and the bed comfortable. A good breakfast buffet with a good choice of hot and cold food; attentive staff (both at reception and at the restaurant) made sure we had a lovely experience during our stay at the hotel. I would definitely stay again at the George hotel if I was in the area.

It is difficult to make some reviews better than others as this hotel is better than others I have given an average rating to, but not quite good enough for very good. The reception staff were very helpful and the bar staff were very good as well.

Breakfast and dinner were well cooked and presented, the room was a little dated, but this is an older hotel so that is to be expected.

I would stay here again.
