“Refurbishments a plenty”

St Mary’s in the Market Square
Ranked #7 of 28 things to do in Lichfield
Certificate of Excellence

Returned to St Marys just before Christmas 2013 to a pleasant surprise. The shop has been refitted and selling things that I liked . . . and purchased too. Speaking to the staff the place is undergoing further improvements all the time, new heating and lighting, the Café being redecorated too. Much improved and starting to look maintained again!! Well done the management. I look forward to the museum getting the same uplifting treatment and wow I was surprised at how much is going on in Lichfield thanks to the Tourist Information Centre relocation into the old building has everything under one roof. I am going to tackle the st marys church spire tour in the Spring as I hear the views are unrivalled/un-obscured unlike the three spire issue at the Cathedral. Best Regards JS

An inspiring story of the growth and development of this city
which has been at the heart of much of our island history

A visit with our local pensioners club on a fairly cold morning . We were welcomed in the cafeteria by our guide for the morning and after nice cup of coffee we were off on the grand tour of Lichfield from the middle ages to the present time. Inevitably much of the information is via DVD but there was plenty of artefacts laid out in wonderful displays. The building itself is very well preserved, with original organ, and the alter behind a clear screen which upstairs gives an elevated view of the stained glass window, something you rarely see.

This is based in St Marys Church which was decommissioned many years ago. As well as reflecting on Lichfields heritage there is also a café/ meeting centre which gives a warm welcome.
