“Great service!”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

Visited Bowling Green for cousins birthday, was a little worried as there was 8 of us and you can't please everyone.
I shouldn't have worried, food was lovely. We all went for a roast which was huge. Meat was tasty and a good range of veg, a little tip if like my hubby you like plenty of gravy ask for more. The only slight down fall I guess was food did take a while to arrive but, if your out for a relaxing lunch that is irrelevant.
The waitress was very patient and accommodating to a very fussy veggie with several checks with kitchen. The waiter who served us later was great, attentive and friendly. All in all a lovely pub, food & staff will be back soon.

“Very Fine Pub indeed!”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Have been to The Bowling Green about 3 times over the last month at varying times too. It's a pretty big pub in the middle of a traffic island, with a Council-run pay-and-display car park alongside which costs 50p for 3 hours, free after 6.00pm - but you get 2 tickets, 1 for your car and the other to get a refund if you have a meal at the Pub! Anyhow, it's quite large inside with several warming real log fires dotted around. They have the usual fayre of beers/drinks, but always have special beers available as well. I have always found the bar staff very efficient, even when it's busy (which it certainly gets at times!) - the food is pretty normal stuff (it is part of a chain after all) but I've tried a few things on the menu and it's always been first rate - good thing is, when ordering food, the bar staff will tell you how long a delay will be, if it's really busy - handy to know! It's very welcoming and even when really busy, there are still areas where you can relax and forget everyone else....

“Very nice meal, bit overcrowded”
Reviewed 13 February 2014 via mobile

Visited for the first time and was impressed. The meals arrived promptly and were very enjoyable. Staff couldn't help enough but the only thing I would pick on is the toilets which could do with a clean.

“Disappointed with meal”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

Went on a Monday evening, when pub was quiet.Service was very good ,food was tasteless.
Soup was like a stock cube in hot water, steak pie pastry needed a drill to get through.
Think the kitchen needs a shake up because the pub itself is lovely.

“Lovely meal”
Reviewed 31 January 2014

My wife and I were staying in Lichfield to celebrate our wedding anniversary and decided to go to the bowling green for an evening meal. We decided to book a table for a Saturday night and it was an excellent choice.
We were treated to a delightful 3 course meal with great and friendly service. All the food we had was very tasty and very well presented. The prices of the meals are excellent as the portions are of a good size.
It was also nice to go to a pub with a good selection of real ales on tap.
We would both highly recommend a meal here but would suggest booking in advance on a Saturday as it was very busy and there were a lot of disappointed faces on people who hadn't pre booked and couldn't find a table.
