Had a delightful afternoon tea this rainy Saturday afternoon, it was the bank holiday weekend so we should have known better. We should have gone last week but they weren't taking bookings with a wedding on - make sure you book ahead or you could be turned away!

Sandwiches aplenty plus the added toast with pea puree and feta cheese served warm and tastes a lot nicer than it sounds. Very delicate artisan cakes and scones served with tea or coffee to top the theme off.

Very lovely setting but felt a bit too refined for our giggling party of six ladies. It's a shame the weather wasn't on our side as the grounds are lovely and it would have been nicer to have been seated on the terrace.

Dear Angela B

Thank you for the review you posted following your visit to Swinfen Hall Hotel for Afternoon Tea.

I was delighted to read that you had an enjoyable afternoon (aside from the classic bank holiday weather!).

I can assure you that the giggling party of six were no problem on the day and we would be delighted to welcome you back.

The terrace is beautiful when the weather is favourable. We shall see what can be organised next time!

Kind Regards

I stayed 2 nights on business with a group of colleagues.
My room was large, bright and roomy, a corner room with great views over the garden and fields where deer were grazing. The Bathroom was large too with a seperate shower and bath, nice towels and toiletries.
Nice polite staff, Every meal was excellent over the two days and very well presented and very tastey!
If I had to be critical I would say that the bar staff used to disappear during the daytime and sometimes you had a wait for them to re-appear to be served but this was not an issue in the evening when it was a little busier with a few more people aroiund, but really a minor point.
If this hotel had a Spa it would make a fabulous relaxing break and I certainly would not hesitate in returning.
Definately worth a try for the tranquil setting and the superb food.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are individual and well appointed rooms

Dear IntrepidAbroad

Thank you for the review you posted recently following your stay with us in May.

I was delighted to hear you had an enjoyable stay with us. The staff are already aware of your very positive feedback.

Your comments about the bar staff are appreciated. I will make our managers aware. I'm not sure what I can do about a spa but I will make your comments known to our owners.

I hope to welcome you back at some point in the future.

Kind Regards

My wife and I got married here 12/4/14. We had the ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception here and had the best day of our lives. When we originally picked Swinfen Hall we were obviously impressed with the venue and staff but on the wedding day they went above and beyond. All the staff were so helpful and made the day that little bit more extra special. My wife had given me a check-list of where different signs, sweet carts and tables with guest books should be etc but it wasn't needed - the staff had everything sorted perfectly. We also loved the fact that we were able to offer our guests choices for food. We had a taster day a year in advance and was blown away by the food, on the day the food was immense. The staff were able to turn the main room around very quickly in between our ceremony and wedding breakfast which also was fantastic. The bridal Suite is amazing and so spacious its a shame we only stayed one night. All of our guests commented on the venue, and I couldn't recommend Swinfen Hall any higher. It was simply first class

Despite only having 18 bedrooms this hotel in terms of the quality of service, décor and dining sets a standard that many other, larger establishments would do well to emulate. We found, without exception, that all of the staff were friendly, efficient and only too prepared to be helpful.
We ate in the bar the first night and the Four Seasons Restaurant on the second. Both menus reflected the management's / chef's objective of utilising locally, and in some cases estate grown, produce. Our meal in the restaurant was exceptional, we particularly enjoyed the lamb, and the personal touch the chef displayed with our coffee / petite fours.

We have just returned from a two night break at this beautiful hotel, it is so relaxing. Food was very well presented but overpriced. The day we left the hotel was set up for a wedding and it looked absolutely stunning, so much so we had to take some photos to show the family. It's setting is idyllic. Thank you.
