Visited for Saturday lunch, very nice and varied menu, terrific service, lovely food and although not cheap, very good value for money. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful and made some recommendations from the menu. Look forward to making a return visit. Avery nice dining experience!

I went to this restaurant this weekend. First impressions were very good, it seemed spotless with a good number of staff and was pretty full at 7.00pm which is usually a good sign. We had booed our tale for 7.30pm and yet by 7.05pm we were asked to take our seats. We politely declined and continued to talk at the bar. We were then seated and then were asked or our orders four times in 16 minutes. We are very busy professionals and only get to see our guests once or twice a year and they are also busy running their company. Eventually having had our conversation interrupted many times we felt pressured and as a result the ladies had steaks when they would probably ave chosen something else given the time to read the very "wordy" menu. Our starters were delicious but again were whipped away as soon as we replaced our cutlery and the mains appeared almost immediately. The mains again were lovely but were cleared and we were immediately asked about sweets. I retired to the ladies and on my return was told that the waitress had returned again and asked what we wanted at which my frend was losing her sense of humour and said that we wanted was to wait for the lady to return from powdering her nose before we ordered. There was nothing fresh on the sweet menu, it was definitely all "puddings" rather than desserts, nothing with fresh fruit for instance. We spent £150.00 for the four of us which was ok given the quality of the food but the over attentive service means that we felt continually rushed and will not return.

We had a lovely mid week meal at the Dog and Doublet. The menu is varied with lots of choice and the sticky toffee pudding is gorgeous! Will definitely be returning again soon.

Been a couple times before for tea with my parents it's always been nice but tonight We were a table of 8 Booked two days before we arrived and was seated straight away, food was great I had 3 course meal and couldn't fault a mouthful, steak cooked to perfection, soup was chilli orange and carott-delicious! And for desert well! We were celebrating mine and my new fiancé engagement and they decorated a beautiful piece of of slate writing in warm melted white choclate " congratulations on your engagement" I had chosen the Bakewell tart and vanilla icecream it tasted delightful and felt bad for having to eat such beautiful presentation! Highly recommend to friends and family and will be back soon! Big thank you to all the team at the dog and doublet you never disappoint! X

Myself and my husband went here on Tuesday 22nd October. We were shocked how busy they were.we were greeted by lovely staff.we went to the bar first.we weren't forgotten as the staff came to us and said our table is ready when we were.the waitress was very good explaining the dishes.we ended up having the pie and pimt menu.we did have a fabulous starter.the pie is to die for.plenty of food.then we decided to have dessert well the chocolate torte was so light I could of eaten it twice.well worth the money and the trip there.
