“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We stayed here on a recent family trip to Alton Towers. Its about 15 miles away from Alton Towers. This is a lovely hotel which is in a good location. The hotel has great amenities; was spotlessly clean; had friendly, helpful staff. Our room was a decent size too. The free wifi was handy. The breakfast was the usual choices of cereals, fruit, full cooked etc but they had gone to the bother of including low sugar jams and marmalades (I have never seen this before). Excellent hotel - would definitely stay here if in this area again :)

My family stayed here on a one night break to Alton Towers. The hotel room was clean and adequate. However, the room was small and the bathroom very standard and, indeed, similar to those found in a national well-known mid market chain. The furniture is showing signs of age and the hum of the air-conditioning prevented me from having a good nights sleep. We decided to go for a swim on arrival, but were very disappointed by the gloominess of the leisure area. It is dated and the swimming pool very small. We decided not to swim as it was not the welcoming, clean environment we had expected. We ate in the restaurant on the evening of our stay and the food was reasonably priced, well presented and of a good standard. It would have been nice to have had waiter/waitress service for the tea/coffee aspect of breakfast the following morning, as is the norm in most 4 star establishments. However, it must be said that all the staff encountered were extremely friendly and helpful, and the main public areas were of a standard expected. All that said, I would consider the hotel in future, but be mindful of its shortcomings.

We had two days at the hotel and it is one of the best we have stayed in. The rooms were clean and had every thing that we needed. The food was very good, the breakfast had enough choice for everyone. The thing that makes this hotel so good is the staff from the girls on reception to the staff in the dinning room. Nothing was to much trouble. We wll be going back a fantastic and friendly hotel.

Good hotel, reasonable price, enjoyable stay (eventually) BUT after a false start check-in process! After arriving early we left our baggage and told to return after 3.30 for check-in. Okay this was a bit of a late time, but hey-ho, thought it would give us chance to see the delights of Stoke (to be fair 5 mins would have been OK). When we arrived back at 4.30 we were told Rod Stewart's band were still in the room and they could not check us in. Majorly irritating not least as this now meant we would not have an opportunity to use the spa/pool (as we needed to be at our event at 6), no major apologies it was just tough luck. So we had to wait in the bar (and pay for our own drink) whist they put the red carpet out for guests who outstayed their welcome and obviously were more important than us tripadvisor reviewers! Apart from that, room quality was good. Breakfast reasonable quality. Communal areas were mad - several weddings throughout the day and Rod Stewart gig - so fair enough. If they just managed the little touches i would have been less grumpy! Let's face it a difficult situation could have given them the opportunity to 'shine' in customer service.

From the large car park and the general look of the hotel we thought we were onto a winner. Reception was good and the lady (sorry don't know the name) was excellent, genuinely friendly and very attentive. Great asset to the hotel.
Very clean and nice room. Great breakfast again with friendly staff (unusual at breakfast service).
Cannot really fault the hotel.
Great for Alton Towers and good franchise restaurants just over the road

I would definitely stay at this hotel again; the rooms and the communal facilities were all clean. The staff (especially the reception staff) were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They made a special effort for our twins birthdays, blowing up lots of balloons which were left for the boys to find when we returned from Alton Towers! The children were thrilled! (Thank you!) It is about 35 minutes from Alton Towers; on a retail park, so great for family meals and is also next to a water park, which we did not have time to visit, but we may do that if we stay again.... which I expect we will do! The food was lovely at breakfast too! I would definitely recommend this hotel! Thank you for a lovely stay!
