Stayed here one night to attend a family party in Stoke. The price was good but that was about all. The staff are lovely but the hotel needs a LOT of money spending on it. Even an efficient housekeeping team would make a difference. My room was adequate and clean until I looked closer...the piece of net hung in the bathroom was really grubby. The curtain at the bedroom window was missing the end hook, so did not close efficiently. The windows are original but poorly painted. I could go on but I will leave you to read all the other poor reviews. I am not a very fussy person when it comes to hotel rooms but having been all over Europe, I don't think I have been in one this poor. It is a lovely old building but has been neglected to a great extent. Come on, Britannia, Stoke visitors deserve SO much more than this!

We spent the week of September 17 - 21 in this wonderful old hotel, and enjoyed it greatly. The rooms were nice and the bed really comfy. And the meals were wonderful, especially for a buffet. We had breakfast and dinner every day and the chefs seemed to outdo themselves every day.
The wait staff in the dining room were very professional, friendly and helpful. The bar and lounge were great and they both had wi-fi, which was helpful. I would recommend this lovely place to anyone going to this area.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and took advantage of the elevator going up, but the stairs were sensati...

Stayed for a wedding first of all put in a room that was a smoking room, didn't know they still had smoking rooms. Moved to a cupboard!!!! It was the only available room. Window bricked up, carpets threadbear enormous television took up the whole of the dressing table and the only mirror. Had to sit on the toilet sideways as it came right up to the wall. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food for the wedding was superb. Such a shame that a beautiful hotel that it was has been allowed to get into such disrepair.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 101!!!!

This hotel is quite majestic from the outside and could be a lovely place to stay. It's conveniently situated opposite the Railway Station. We stayed for one night to attend a party nearby. The hotel does have a car park but it's not very well signed and we had trouble finding it. There is a charge to park even for residents and it's quite expensive, I think we paid £7 for our overnight stay. Overall the rooms are very very tired, ours was tiny and for the price we paid we do not think it was good value for money.

Room Tip: Try a Travelodge or Premier Inn better quality and probably cheaper!

we were staying at the hotel for a wedding this weekend, never again. filthy, shoddy rooms, a bath that had to be cleaned before we got into it. receptionist was rude and very unwelcoming. ok the price was cheap but we did expect some courtesy and a clean room. television old and tired, yes it was us that wrote CLEAN ME on the cupboard in the dust.

This hotel brings a whole new meaning to the word tired, the paintwork is scruffy, the carpets on the stairs threadbare, the walls have damp patches and there is a community of black mold growing in the bedrooms. When you enter the hotel the aroma of cabbage greets you and prepares you for the culinay delights on offer - even at less than £8 for the evening meal you come away feeling robbed though thankfully there is a Subway next door. One hidden extra is that you have to pay for car parking and it is quite expensive.

The only good thing about this hotel was checking out.

Room Tip: If you want a good room then I would try a different hotel

This hotel charged 108 pounds a night for a superior room which was tiny, damp with mould on the window sills. The access to the room started on floor two with mould and damp in the stairwell and yellow painted walls which were peeling off and in dire need of repainting. The manager, who I spoke to said no money could be taken off the bill as I had booked on line via a travel site. Quite frankly had I not being attending a wedding at the venue I would have walked out on day one. Buyer beware !
