“Lovely lunch”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 via mobile

Just needed to tell everyone what a great little place this is to have a lunch with friends.the lady (so sorry forgot the name) who takes care of things is absolutely lovely. She is so helpfull and you can tell she loves her job. The luncheon is £5 for three courses!!!! ie,,, soup/melon. Then there is a choice of three main and two sweets!! For the price it was really good value and such a nice place to be. Tip for parking there is a big car park to the left of the Hotel if you can't get on the front. We had a really enjoyable time.

Was wary of visiting this hotel after reviews on trip advisor-to be honest this hotel was ok for one night. It was very dated and the first room we had smelt like someone had just smoked 40 cigarettes in there! After we asked to be moved we were given a cleaner (and non-smoking) room.Very basic hotel-ok for the money but won't be in a rush to stay again

Having read previous reviews I was a little wary of this hotel but the position suited us perfectly. Checking in was fairly painless although there was no mention of wishing us a good stay or whatever! When we got to the room - which was perfectly clean but definitely shabby without the chic! - there was no sink plug. Having informed reception of this we were handed a key for another room. We wondered whether we were supposed to take the plug from the other room or move into it and we moved into it. The bar was not open at 5.00 p.m. but I was told that if I returned to it there would be someone there! There was and he said he was setting up and we waited 15 minutes until he felt able to deal with us. He could easily have poured our drinks and then set up! The next morning I asked if there was a lounge where I could wait before breakfast but this was out of action because of a wedding later in the day. There was no suggestion of any other possible area. Dinner that evening was served in another room because of the wedding and it was good but lacked atmosphere. Basically this hotel is trying to improve its decor and general appearance but the staff - apart from one (Francesca) at breakfast - showed no interest in the visitors. With a little interest from the reception and bar staff I would recommend this hotel to others.

Arrived at hotel for 2 days stay. Niece was having her wedding at hotel. The wedding was fantastic, shame about the rest. Our 1st room had no door lock, the window was 10 foot above your head, and had holes in. You needed a pole to shut the curtains which were torn, dirty and not attached properly. The tele was out of the ark. It was like watching a wide screen film on a little tele. the walls were marked, the furniture old. The bathroom was at the back of the room, cave like, and the smell was appalling as soon as you entered the room. My husband went a spoke to reception who gave him a key to another room. We went and had a look. This was even worse. The smell of smoke was over powering, the shower was broken, I can go on and on, but we declined their kind offer to move. My husband asked reception where there was another hotel, and she said she would see what she could do. We were then given another room. This one was better, smell wise, and did have a window, and a shower that worked, sort off. So we moved. The curtains were filthy and not hung properly, the ceiling had paper falling down, and damp stains were everywhere. the chair was so badly stained you would not use it. The bathroom had mould and peeling plaster and paint. the window didn't shut. Every where was dirty..The bed was so lumpy you could feel the springs. the pillows were very thin.Outside there was industrial fans going all the time. We paid for bed and breakfast £60.00 per night. We went for breakfast and were told it would be £10.00 extra each. I couldn't be bothered to argue, I was so tired and fed up, anyway sister law spoke to reception who added B&B on ticket. Ate breakfast. Next day was the same, they wanted us to pay for 2 days breakfast. Had to sort it out again. The coffee is in flasks, and my husband showed the people there that 2 flasks were contaminated with things that were black and not meant to be in the water. They just left them there for people to use. Couldn't wait to get out. Such a shame, its a beautiful building, that needs lots of money spending on it. Everywhere was falling apart. I have now got home, and went straight to bed, I was feeling so ill, possibly lack of sleep, for 2 nights. I have now slept until 4 pm the next day and still feel unwell. Understandable due to having to stay in such dirty, damp and bad conditions. NEVER GO HERE £ 120.00 for the pleasure. Forgot to say. The drinks in the private function bar were 3 times more expensive than the bar next to it.

Room Tip: don't book one is the best tip I can offer

to start the parking is pay and display, £7 for 24 hours.
check in was efficient, wont say anything else
room excellent, really spacious although the bed cover was just a white duvet, bathroom spacious and clean.
buffet breakfast in the restaurant was acceptable
however as the restaurant was closed on the saturday night for wedding hotel diners had to go to a back room to choose from a poor selection of pub food in heated tureen, no service, no table laid, help yourself to cutlery and search for the condiments
Service, there was non. how they could call this dinner is beyond me.
would have had fresher food at the pub

visited the north stafford hotel for the £5 lunch time buffet. Wasnt expecting too much for the money but was pleasantly surprised by the food on offer. soup to start with fresh bread rolls, a choice of 4 main meals with lovely fresh veg, potatoes and great chips. top it all off with 3 choices of lovely desserts and melon followed by tea or coffee and you have a great lunch at a great price. would recommend to anyone looking for good price but quality food you do have to book first but well worth a visit. offer runs mon - fri

Basically the staff were rude apart from management. The food that could have been taken from a retirement home would have more chance than this place. The room was clean but very dated, as was the whole hotel.
