Had an excellent stay, staff very friendly. Came here last year and visited with friend this time. Excellent value for money, close to all amenities, room was lovely and spacious. Really good night sleep. Be back in October would recommend.

Used Brittania hotels many a time and always found them to be ok,this one was different.
Had to pay to park in the car park over night at £3(where else were we supposed to park)
Big sign saying no food or drink tobe brought in (felt guilty bringing bickies in)
Receptionist was the u happiest looking person i have ever seen who really didnt want to be there
Now on to the best bit the room:
Looked out of the window and had a view of scaffolding and the centre courtyard, bloody awful
Thought we had a jacquizzi bath until we found it didnt work
Bathroom had black mould round tiles
Television came out of the ark and didnt work properly
All in all a god awful room that made me depressed to be there, thank god it was an overnighter before Alton Towers.
Please if you get this hotel on a discounted site, believe me spend some more money and go to a premier inn!!!!

we stayed there for only one night but that was enough. the decor is as old as the building. very dirty and flaking paint almost everywhere. chairs and sofas with rips and tears on them. general toilets ( ladies ) filthy in need of Dyno Rod... booked an executive suit with jacuzzi 6 in hotel all Broken. got a room with whole in the door and disabled rails next to toilet and in bath. double bed was two single beds with double mattress on top!
breakfast was a joy also... dining room!!! chairs same as rest of hotel ripped and old. used plates and utensils on nearly every table. ( staffing ) condiments empty search tables for salt n pepper. breakfast cereal on floor. poor choice of traditional breakfast. was more in keeping with first come first served........
left shortly afterwards vowing no return.
stoke on trent is a nice place with nice people. shame this hotel lets it down.

The last time I stayed here was on October 2013 and it was very poor to say the least. However, when the Quality Hotel let me down big time in June, I wished to change to another hotel.

The first thing to say is that this right next to the train station, which is very convenient because you don't have to leave early to head back to the train station if you are in Hanley (for eg).

However, the receptionists don't seem that friendly and aren't welcoming. The staff in the kitchen need to be more than the 2 that were on during breakfast time. They seemed rushed off there feet and if there were a little more, then that would ease stress for them and also provide a better service.

In the hotel rooms, the showers were satisfactory and provided with reasonable amounts of hot water. I don't like the brand of shower gel and shampoo so shall bring my own in future.

The hotel bar is much of a let down as it's quite dirty and seriously need re-decorating.

I am not bothered about the antiqueness of the building as mentioned in other reviews.

OK, we were on a David Urquhart coach holiday, so didn't expect a lot for such little money, but still. The hotel rooms were just about OK (bedding clean, but everything else a bit tired). The location is handy for Stoke-on-Trent railway station (opposite), but that's about it. It's a half hour walk into the centre of Stoke, if you think it's worth making the trip (go by taxi - £5 each way). We were on a four night break and, as the food was always cold, availability of plates and food sporadic, and the restaurant and bar for the most part manned by untrained (and sometimes unhelpful) staff, in addition to the lack of choice, we decided to go into Stoke centre to eat and drink on two of the nights we were there. Advised by the local police, the only "safe house" is the Wetherspoons there, which would not usually be my choice, but I have to say they were 100% better and friendlier than the hotel and the food was edible and cheap, and the drinks, of course, also very cheap. I couldn't understand why Urquhart based us at the North Stafford Hotel, so far from Ludlow and Shrewsbury and the day of the potteries excursion was a potteries holiday... This was about the worst coach trip I have ever been on and was made much, much worse by the sad, dusty hotel and sad staff (for the most part - but not all, I have to say... some, surprising managed to keep a sense of humour and I feel sorry that they have to work in such a place).

My partner and I booked this hotel on line only to find it was worse than Fawlty Towers. The pictures are so glossed up and do not portray what it is actually like.

We travelled from Cornwall to this Hotel and after a long 7 hour journey were more than ready to relax. More wrong we could not have been. Firstly no greeting just a smile and "are you here to book in". The first room was on the 1st floor although we were not told this and we were not shown where the room was, probably because they were ashamed to show it to us as it was that bad.

We called for the Manager who had the keys to another room which he showed us and this just went down hill from there. A Jacuzzi bath about 20 years old that had been disconnected and the shower screen with a broken seal , when you took a shower it flooded the bathroom floor.
Inside of the wardrobe was a hole punched through the back of it to reach an electrical socket( don't worry Britannia I have all the photographs). A bed that squeaked and a floor which did the same . A tv which came out of the ark and you could only get 10 channels.
The breakfast next day was cold coffee, rubber eggs, gravy and tea stains on the restaurant wall, tables not cleared for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Furniture so threadbare that the stuffing was sticking out of the sides

We asked to see the duty manager to complain and ask for a refund who firstly told us that he did not have the authority to sanction refunds, so why have duty managers if they have no authority.

All in all the worst Hotel experience of my life. Oh yes and they charge for overnight parking although their brochure states FREE PARKING

Brittania you need to get it right as this building is one if the Grandest in Stoke and you have let it fall in to so much disrepair

I work in the trade as a Guest Relations Manager in a 4 Star Hotel I would not rate this hotel as even a 2 star and thats being charitable

Room Tip: Don't go to the North Safford Hotel

I recently stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights as we were taking a trip to Alton Towers. The hotel is very handy if thats where your going to as it is only half an hour journey to the park.
The hotel itself its very old fashioned looking. So if you like ultra modern this isnt the hotel for you. Inside the room we had an en suite bathroom with a huge bath. I found the bathroom a good size and clean. The shower was nice and powerful unlike some other hotels.
We also had a really old fashioned dressing table and wardrobe that i personally like. The tv was very dated but it worked fine. There was also a tray with kettle and tea and coffee. Also there was extra pillows in the wardrobe which was good as i like two pillows to sleep on. The double bed was a good size and the sheets were clean. It was a bit hard but im used to sleeping on a bed with a memory foam topper to be fair. When we came home from the park that evening the maid had been in and gave us fresh towels.
The view from the room was pretty rubbish because we didnt have one. It looked onto a roof and into another guests room. Which really wasnt a problem for us as we were out all day or sleeping with the curtains closed.
There is a hotel carpark at the back of the hotel that you get a ticket from the machine and you pay at the end of your stay which for us was only £6. Overall i would say it was worth what we paid which was £100 for two nights. Its a good hotel for a couple nights stay for things like alton towers or day trips.
Its also right next to the stoke on trent station which is handy for people travelling by train. Yes the hotel is a bit dated but i found my stay comfortable and
clean. If your looking for 5 star
luxury then book a 5 star hotel
