Visited the Saracen's Head Steakhouse for an evening meal with my parents. Decided to go in after driving by and seeing the new Steakhouse sign. On arrival, the restaurant was was very welcoming, clean and fresh. Through discussion with staff, found out that this was the opening day!!!!
Staff: Experienced managers and chefs (already have an excellent restaurant in Ashbourne, Derbyshire), with new waitresses. As we were the only people in at that time, the staff were being trained on how to waitress efficiently, which was refreshing to see. Very attentive staff and willing to please. Seeking lots of feedback to ensure all needs were met and that the staffing and quality of food was at it's best.
Starter: Shared nachos - which were very good. A great sized portion for 3 (although we did not finish it!)
Mains: at our table, 2 rump steaks and one steak and ale pie ordered:
Rump steak medium rare - cooked to perfection, with the most delicious Dauphinoise potatoes and onion rings.
Rump steak medium well - again, cooked to perfection, this time with chips. Chips were amazingly crispy yet not at all oily which was fabulous!
Steak and Ale pie - with chips again. Pie was HUGE!!! Gravy in pie a little runny, however informed Chef, so I believe this will be addressed. Quality steak in pie, with no bad meat/gristle found.
Puddings: Well, it would have been rude not too!!!
4 Layered chocolate cake - ridiculously huge portion (should of had 3 spoons), however very very good. Between the layers, was chocolate goo with chocolate chips within this.
Creme Brulee - good portion size (a bit more manageable with one spoon). Accompanied by excellent vanilla ice-cream (not the cheap stuff).
Selection of hot drinks, coffees, teas & hot chocolate also available.

Enjoyed our meal so much - went back for Sunday roast the day after!!!!!
Sunday roast - beef (as we know they can manage steak, this was cooked to perfection), roast potatoes, mash potatoes, carrots, red cabbage and 2 large Yorkshire Puddings. Who could ask for more!!!
I may of had to have the creme brulee to top it off.....!!!!

Price: Introductory offer of 15% off as they are only just open, however reasonable prices for a quality Steakhouse!

Please support this local independent restaurant - it has lots of potential, but needs for the word to get out!!!
