“Excellent pick me up after night out!”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We took a walk round the Tees Barrage on a Sunday morning after being out the night before and it was the perfect pick me up. We enjoyed the walk round the centre, spotting seals and watching some canoeists in the rapids. Would confirm the comments from the previous person about the Beefeater, we walked out when we saw what they were charging for breakfast.

“A lovely place but a couple of drawbacks”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

Tees Barrage is a wonderful place and is easy to access by vehicles, bikes or even walking if you live nearby. Most people go for water-sports such as White Water Rafting or Canoeing. It's a great day out though just watching them going round in the amazingly set out water course. After the day out you'll probably spot the over-priced, expensive pub/restaurant on site- it serves OK food for a an over-exaggerated price. You could just go for a drink-and if you choose the refillable soft drinks you can go back for more:Tango, Tango Apple, Pepsi, R Whites Lemonade and much much more are all served. Also it's great for walking as you can walk to Stockton. Furthermore, there was a bus load of elderly and disabled people who couldn't find the disabled toilets which weren't signed and had a very steep ramp and a very steep staircase leading up to the toilets, I think they could easily improve that and none of the staff in the Barrage's cafés building-the staff weren't helpful either.

Hi Jacob

Thanks for visiting the centre and for your valuable feedback. Tees Barrage really is a great place to visit whether you’re participating in watersports or simply enjoying a stroll around the site. It’s great to hear the course re-development is also appreciated by visitors. The pub/restaurant you may be referring to is the Beefeater restaurant - The Talpore, which is next to the Premier Inn. We do not manage these facilities but we do however have our own onsite café which may offer better value for money serving a variety of food and drink.

From the riverside the centre reception is accessible from either side of the building, the ramp to the left is as steep as the space will allow but the ramp to the right is drawn out and is a much gentler climb, albeit a longer distance. Centre staff will be more than happy to show disabled visitors to the toilets which are signposted at the entrance to the building. Alternatively there may be disabled access toilets at The Talpore which could also be used.

I hope this has addressed your points and will not discourage you from visiting the centre in the future.

Interesting place to have a stroll round of an evening if the weather is good. Right next to the pub too!

“Great kayaking venue ”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 via mobile

Went to Tees Barrage this weekend for their white water course. It was excellent. I am a reasonable standard kayaker, getting back into the sport after a few years out.

The course is quite demanding, but you always feel safe and there is plenty of hello on hand.

The short course with its large drop at the end is difficult, but really worth running.

An excellent day out.

I know they also run experience days and rafting experiences, which I have not done, but I'm sure would be great on that course!

“great views and nice tea”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

visited here for a groupon afternoon tea for 2 on a glorious sunny day last week, we took our 2 grandsons with us aged 19month and nearly 4yrs old, the views are great and afterwards went for a walk along the riverside, we ordered a kis meal for the eldest child of sausage chips and beans and for the price it was extremely good value and the chips were actually great home made ones and not the usual frozen type you expect in a café, the sandwhich's were fine as were the cakes quiche and homemade sausage rolls the scones were that good that I never got one and the grandson ate mine, definately worth going and most likely will visit again groupon or not on another sunny day
