Just stayed in this hotel (10 in our party) and had a lovely time. The hotel seem to need a bit of modernising but the rooms were clean and warm. The staff were friendly, especially the breakfast staff. The breakfast was excellent 10/10. I imagine it would be lovely in the summer, the garden is very large with outside tables and chairs. We had a pleasant in the bar after eating out in Yarm - the bar was cosy with a large screen tv so the men could watch Match of the Day. Very reasonably prices - well done.

I stayed here for one night in November because everywhere else was full, its not too bad.
Its very short staffed but I can understand that if they are not busy.
When I was checking in I had to wait a good ten minutes before a member of staff came after ringing the bell 3 times.
I was on the top floor so good exercise up 3 flights, my bathroom light didn't work but a guy came almost right away to replace it. The bed was comfortable, the room was cold but plenty extra covers, sorted!
The towels were a bit on the small side. My shower packed in just as I had finished washing.
The room is dated with an artex ceiling and wood chip walls but it was clean spacious and tidy. Breakfast i had the same issue with staff had my cereal and fruit juice finished before a staff member appeared to ask about tea or coffee and cooked breakfast, breakfast was fine , they dont do evening meals, missing a trick there I think.

Stopped there with business and the hotel is fine. Room is a little outdated but clean, good bed and not that I watched it but a big flat screen tv. Breakfast was fantastic and the value of this place is hard to beat.

We recently used the Claireville Hotel for a private Golden Wedding celebration meal, having used it for a similar event some years ago (the hotel is still under the same management as then). As on the previous occasion, we have been delighted with the friendly, personal service, the attention to detail, the organization of our event, the responsiveness to our particular needs and wishes, and the suite of rooms in which the event was held (including the finishing touches appropriate to a Golden Wedding celebration - balloons, flowers etc.). As it was a fine day, we were also able to walk in the pleasant, well-kept gardens - useful for our two lively grandchildren to let off steam. The three-course meal followed by coffee and mints was of excellent quality, and served without any delays or errors in matching diners to their selections. Last but not least, the cost of the whole evening represented excellent value for money.

We will certainly use this hotel again for any future special events, and recommend it to others.

No staff
Bar shut with grills down/bar dirty and water on the floor
Bathroom smelt of urine
No water to drink in the rooms
Room door didnt lock from the inside
No Lift

No atmosphere

Good Points:

We stayed for one night - the twin room was large - perhaps quite cool even with the heating fully on - it was bitterly cold outside. Single room fine - large en-suite and tv in both. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good. Plenty of parking - the grounds looked as though they would be lovely in better weather

Convenient for business travellers to the nearby industrial areas.
