Description: Our new Bar and Brasserie has been inspired by a modern desire to return to simple, 'back to basics' food, offering freshly prepared dishes, contemporary, informal surroundings and impeccable service. We hope the whole family will enjoy dining with us. From fresh fish bought from Dean's Shed, situated on the beach opposite the White Lion, to smoked kippers sourced from Pinney's of Orford, every ingredient used in the exciting dishes which feature on the new menu, has been 'hand picked' to guarantee an abundance of flavours - Bon Appétit.

The Brasserie and bar are on the ground floor and have good sea views. Decor is modern and stylish. We opted for the fixed price menu. Although a limited choice, it had all we could wish for. We started with a smoked mackerel pate with sliced apple and walnuts and a rocket salad with tiny pieces of celery, whilst I had a warm duck salad with pickled cherries and well dressed rocket - yum. To follow we both chose pan fried sea bream fillet served on a bed of shredded cabbage, greens, leak and beans with some new potatoes instead of the minted pea gnocchi on offer.
Lovely fresh fish, small but tasty and excellent green veg. I enjoyed some crisp sauvignon blanc from the bar while Mrs Mac had her usual lime and soda for lunchtime. For dessert we had super light mille feuille with strawberry and pistachio cream and a large fresh straw berry, really good; and passion fruit cheesecake with lemon sorbet , fruit jelly and sauce decorated with a raspberry, macaroon and mint leaf. Both desserts were attractively assembled and well made.
Service was efficient and unobtrusive. Portions may have been small, but were spot on for luncheon and for the price represent excellent value. Will definitely return.

Quite formal. Part of a hotel. Good food and service at reasonable prices. A must for visitors to aldeborough. Some tables have good views of the seafront so check this out before booking. Would certainly go again. Good menu and wine list.

Visited at lunchtime, midweek and the restaurant was very busy., most people seemed to be on an offer for a set meal with a glass of wine promotion and as it turned out we soon realised why...
We ordered from the A la Carte menu and the prices charged certainly did not justify what we were served.
Starter arrived, smoked salmon cannelloni with a potato salad, I was simply amazed for the wrong reason. It had about half an ounce of smoked salmon rolled and stuffed with some sort of cream cheese and served on a tiny portion of very basic potato salad. All served so cold straight from the fridge so there was absolutely no taste and it was priced at £7.25
Main courses arrived...
Confit of duck £12.95 with a duck leg so small it was incredible that they actually managed to buy it that small
Cromer crab salad £12.50, again a tiny starter sized dressed crab straight from the fridge not even fluffed up just rock hard cold meat, supposed to be served with a "rustic " salad and new potatoes, arrived with three baby potatoes and a few dressed green leaves, beyond belief!
Probably if you stick to the set menu or an offer you would perhaps feel it was reasonable value but personally I felt very annoyed and certainly would not return

Starters of Salmon Cannelloni tasted good. The small amount of Smoked Trout with a raspberry dressing was lost in a pickled salad. The main course of Confit of Chicken tasted deep fried and was served with deep fried roast potatoes and not the mash as on the menu it also came with a Yorkshire pudding! The beef main course was tender and cooked as ordered but was yet again accompanied by the deep fried hard potatoes. A main course of baked sole which tasted poached.
Bit of a let down.
