We spent the afternoon at Snape Maltings. We started off with a long walk through the reed beds alongside a myriad of wild flowers. They were truly spectacular. We then had lunch in the pub. The lovely bartender looked after us and made sure we just sneaked in with our lunch order. We were served promptly and the food was delicious. After lunch we visited the shops and bought food, cards and plants. All in all a lovely afternoon.

Attractively set beside the river, the Maltings is being developed. It doesn't tell you much about Britten's vision here, nor can you visit the concert hall or listen to players practising except from outside. The path to Ikem was very overgrown and the cruise is limited by the tide. It's interesting to see how the site is developing and must be good to attend the August proms.

I visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon to have a look around. Beautiful place in a lovely spot! Disappointed by the staff who served us our drinks in the coffee shop. The lady who took our order was extremely rude and no care was put into making the drinks. The coffee was not fresh and the tea tasted as though the teabag had been dipped in for only a few seconds.
I purchased a bag of snape malting fudge for £2.25 from the groceries area. For this price i was expecting it to be of good quality, however it tasted of boiled sugar and after looking at the ingredients i found it was made of only sugar and vegetable fat - hardly worth the price tag or deserving of the name Fudge! Nice place but overall disappointing experience!

We rented a lovely town house right in the Maltings and have had a most amazing time. This is an area for foodies and I'm sure we've put on weight. The Smokery in Orford provided enough for three meals for four people for £35.00 - we thought we'd spent a lot of money but it all just lasted and lasted. The setting of the Maltings itself is just stunning with lots of statuary (Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and more) to break up what is simply beautiful scenery.
Our house was fabulous with the only downside that we had to go to the top of three floors for the kitchen and living room - hard after all that food!
A wonderful break and to look round the concert hall itself was just great, thanks to the friendly volunteer who told me all about it and its history.
