Our first visit to The Wentworth Hotel and we were not disappointed, the restaurant food was superb and the room we were allocated whilst in the additional accommodation block at the rear of the Hotel was splendid and closer to the parking area. Nothing is always perfect and I may suggest that more attention is paid to the quality of the bacon at breakfast time, appears to have been hanging about for a while, `O` and the beer not well kept if as we were told it was a new barrell the day before, perhaps they should clean their lines out more often.

Thank you for your review and I am glad you enjoyed your first stay with us - and that we were near to perfect except the bacon and beer!

Our bacon comes from a local butcher and is fresh every day but i am sorry it was not to your taste.

We clean our lines once a week but we will contact the brewery just to make sure the procedure we follow is as it should be

Thank you again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back for a second visit very soon

My partner and I came across the hotel by chance 14 years ago and have been returning most years since, sometimes twice a year. We have also had special occasion parties at the Wentworth, always excellent. We can never fault it and look forward to return visits to Aldeburgh and the Wentworth for rest and relaxation.

Room Tip: All the rooms are well appointed, some are larger than others but you pay more. The seaview rooms a...

Thank you for leaving a review.

I am pleased you enjoyed your brief stay with us. Your comments regarding the food have been passed to the kitchen.

I am sorry about the deliveries. We do try and get them here later but sometimes their route dictates they are with us early. I hope it did not disturb you too much.

I do hope we can welcome you back very soon

Visited for a long weekend of rest & relaxation, and it was lovely. Get a seafront room! Well worth it! More suited to middle aged & upwards, which suited us fine. Wonderful food in the restaurant, even for me, a vegetarian, always plenty of choice! Not the kind of place for those who want lots of entertainment provided, but ideal for anyone who enjoys a relaxing break!

Thank you for your review. I am glad you think the hotel is the best in Aldeburgh

We do try and offer two vegetarian dishes every evening and accommodate dietary needs also. The sea facing rooms certainly offer a gorgeous view, especially at this time of year.

I am glad you found the hotel relaxing

We hope to welcome you back very soon

Just returned from a two night stay at the Wentworth Hotel and have to say didn’t have the best experience.

I had issues with both meals I had in the hotel, one due to stale bread being used for the sandwich ordered at lunchtime on our arrival, and the second being served cheesecake that was so dry it was barely edible when having dinner in the restaurant on the second night of our stay – this from a restaurant proudly displaying had been awarded two AA rosettes for its food.

We ate at the White Lion in the village on our first night and the meal was in a different league.

To be fair when I reported these instances to the receptionist when checking out she apologised and immediately refunded the cost of both items.

My biggest issue however revolves around the allocating of tables in the dining room.

On arrival we had a look around the dining area and were drawn to the pleasant conservatory area to the side of the main room. We decided we would book a table for dinner on the second night of our stay and asked the receptionist if we could have a table in the conservatory area, her response was that the conservatory area was very popular with their ‘regulars’ but they would try to fit us in.

Although she tried to choose her words carefully it was quite clear that certain guests had priority when choosing tables in this particular part of the dining room.

This was reinforced when we first went down for breakfast, we were amongst the first to arrive and only a handful of tables were occupied, I asked the waitress if we could sit in the conservatory and was told that our table had already been allocated and was then shown to a table at the far end of the dining room.

I noted that the same tables that were free in the conservatory area when we arrived for breakfast were still free when we left – obviously they were waiting to be used by the ‘regulars’

Of course when we went down for dinner on the second night the penny had dropped and we knew we wouldn’t be eating in the conservatory as requested, and it was no surprise when we were shown to our ‘allocated’ table.

On the face of it this hotel has much going for it, its in a good location, the staff are polite and pleasant, the rooms are nice, the indoor sitting areas are generous with nice furnishings, and the outdoor eating areas are attractively laid out.

However having travelled extensively, I can say I have never experienced a preferential system for allocating tables as operated here, and for this reason I find it difficult to recommend.

It is obviously very disheartening to read your review.

I apologise for your experience regarding the food. Our bread for sandwiches is made fresh every day by our pastry chef but obviously something has gone wrong with your sandwich. We will investigate the recipe for our cheesecake.

With regards to the allocation of tables for dinner and breakfast I think our receptionist has used the wrong wording when she said "regulars". There is no preference given to anyone regarding the table given to guests for dinner. Admittedly we do have guests who have been to the hotel before who request certain tables but this occurrence is minimal. There were not regulars in the conservatory but merely people who had already been at those tables the previous nights. In the hotel's defence I do not know of many restaurants or hotels that do not allocate tables for dinner or breakfast

The table allocation does continue for breakfast. If someone on arrival does request a certain table we do our best to accommodate them, but on this occasion, we were unfortunately able to do so for yourselves as the tables were already occupied by people who had been on these tables the previous nights.

I am sorry you felt preferential treatment had been given to some guests but please rest assured that this is not the case. We wish to give all our guests a hospitable welcome and ensure their stay is relaxing.

If you wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me. I do hope you may choose to revisit the Wentworth and please feel free to request a conservatory table when booking, and we will do our utmost to put you in there

Kind regards and best wishes

We have just returned from yet another short, too short actually, break at this lovely Hotel. All the staff are exceptionally good, food was excellent, spotlessly clean Hotel and we have found all the rooms we have stayed in to be most comfortable.

Room Tip: Inward facing rooms are quiet as are the front sea facing ones.

We are not familiar with this area and our recent, all too brief stay was arranged at rather short notice. The price is not cheap although we did get a deal that included Dinner but quite frankly our experience surpassed our expectations.
Our sea view room was not huge but perfectly adequate and extremely comfortable. The newly refurbished bathroom was excellent too. The provision of a set of good binoculars to make the most of the lovely view was a really nice touch. The hotel is furnished throughout in a traditional style without feeling dated or old-fashioned and there were lots of places to sit and relax. Outside, the terrace by the bar is delightful as is also the lovely garden at the end of the hotel. Despite our short stay we managed to enjoy both with a drink or two in the sunshine.
Dinner in the Restaurant was delicious and good value.
We fully intend to get back to Aldeburgh for longer sometime and when we do we won't be looking for anywhere else to stay.

Room Tip: The sea view is worth a little extra.

We are glad you found us! Your review is greatly appreciated and it is nice to read that you won't look further than the Wentworth for accommodation in Aldeburgh next time you visit.

The hotel is traditional in feel but our ongoing refurbishment scheme ensures each area is kept up to date with fresh decor and furnishings.

Our terrace is certainly a plus for the hotel and together with our Tiffany Garden give wonderful al fresco dining opportunities. I am glad you got the chance to soak up the sun

We hope to see you again in the not too distant future
