“Perfect - a little piece of Suffolk heaven!”
Reviewed 13 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

A very comfortable cottage which has benefitted from the recent improvements in the bathroom and kitchen. The owners really go that extra bit to make it so inviting with newly cut wood for the firepit and the freedom of their large garden which stretches to the beach perfect for our dog walks. The children loved exploring the 'secret garden' landscape and especially the old summer house. We will return!

“Brilliant Holiday Break”

The hospitality of the owners, Tony and Debbie, could not be faulted, and with the assistance of the on site tour guide, Jakey the dog, we were able to explore all aspects of the eleven acre property, as well as enjoy the relaxation of the private sandy bay and for the more adventurous and energetic of us, the trampoline and play area.

The walk down to the private beach was a short easy walk with a vast amount of wildlife to hear and see, and the owl flying back with prey in its claws and the sound of the deer in the woods, made the experience all the more enjoyable. As for the private beach, great fun was had by all, from age fourteen months to sixty three years. The fishing was great and a number of sea bass were caught. Despite throwing the undersized back, we still feasted on more than one occasion, at one point, the largest being three pounds in weight.

The kayaking was immense, especially being able to see the resident seal on many occasions, as well as having it swim alongside me whilst out fishing, although i'm sure it must of been him who took the biggest fish.

As for the house, do not be fooled. Although a small kitchen, we had no trouble cooking a full Sunday roast with three joints of meat and seven varieties of veg for six adults, one infant and a dog, as well as Eton Mess and cheese and biscuits; all thoroughly enjoyed in the properties garden dining area. As well as the kitchen, the rooms were spacious enough, especially the Master Bedroom, even with the addition of a travel cot. Do not be fooled by the prospect of a folding bed either, as the senior member of the family slept on it for the week with no complaints.

We hope to return soon as a family once all members are available together but until then others should make the most of what this property has to offer.

Best wishes,
The Family

“Just what we were looking for”

We were looking for a place to chill out after a hectic couple of days. It was just right. The owners were welcoming and the views across the Alde from their 11 acres of grounds sweeping to the river were sublime.
Sorry not to be able to stay longer. Wonderful place for kids to be able to roam safely - with fire-pit and own beach and could borrow Kayaks too.
Thanks again to the owners.....

Reviewed 5 November 2011 for a stay in January 2011

We loved our stay; grounds and wildlife amazing. Cottage v comfortable, and hosts are very welcoming with a gorgeous dog Jake. River is at the bottom of the grounds with lovely walk into Aldeburgh. We want to come back in the summer to swim...
