A wonderful Christmas break at The White Lion. Our room was comfortable and warm although some more shelf or drawer space would have been very welcome. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was nice to meet the general manager's family on Christmas Day. The visit to see "Scrooge" on Christmas Eve afternoon was a nice touch. The meals were all excellent although two full meals on Boxing Day was rather over-the-top for us.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra to have a room overlooking the sea.

Friendly, flexible, efficient and helpful staff. Superb breakfast. Comfortable rooms. The lounge area was a bit tight for a group of 12 to gather but they didn't mind us shifting a few chairs and the board games were a bonus. Location is perfect. More pricey than we usually go for but pleasantly informal and well worth it!

Room Tip: Sea-view rooms would have been great but not sure they would be worth the extra cost. Some of the back rooms are a bit of a trek with up and down stairs due to different levels on the first floor - worth considering for anyone with mobility problems.

Reasonable room and good breakfast - but useless wi-fi. I have been twice neither time did the internet work very well. They need to invest in a new system and not give excuses! Good position in Aldeburgh. Easy to walk into the town and opposite the beach. Reception helpful but rooms difficult to get to because of stairs that go up and down along the same corridor. Somewhat cramped and not suitable for disabled - lift very small and ancient.

Apologies you experienced some trouble with our wifi. It does not always cause us a problem; however it does occasionally depend on how many people are using it at the time. As a county, we are campaigning for Better Broadband all the time. Feel free to get behind and support the on-going campaign that has achieved so much already. The more voices the better!

I am a little confused by your comment regarding our lift, as this was installed in April 2011. It is a modern platform lift providing access to the upper floors for wheel chair users or those unable to use the stairs.

In reference to the stairs within the building, there is 5 steps with support rails either side at the far end corner of the building on the 1st floor where the neighbouring buildings, built in 1563, were knocked together.

I am pleased you found the location, the staff and breakfast to your liking. I look forward to welcoming you personally on your return so I can ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible once again. Happy New Year to you and all the best for 2013

Most wonderful Christmas day meal. Staff made the day complete. The General manager is a card, but he and his staff really add to the atmosphere of the day, thank you one and all. Would recommend to anyone, if you really don't feel like cooking next year. The white Lion is the place to go!

My family now enjoys a regular reunion at the Aldeburgh "White Lion", and it always proves to be the most enjoyable occasion. Good food, excellent surroundings, and truly welcoming staff of the highest quality. Great location and superb accommodation. As a former Chief Officer of the Suffolk County Council, these occasions are always a somewhat nostalgic occasion for me personally, and it is good to revisit places in Suffolk from my professional past, using the "White Lion" as a base.
A great hotel, and thoroughly recommended. We will be coming to Aldeburgh many times in the future, we hope.
