This was our first visit to The White Lion and as soon as we arrived at the seafront hotel we were warmly greeted by staff. We opted for an inland explorer room which turned out to be a very large and spacious room with a good size bathroom. It was modern and exceptionally clean with local magazines on the area a welcome addition. We then enjoyed a seaside walk and explored the local high street before dining in the brasserie. I had moules frites which were deliciously fresh and tasty while my partner had steak. A glass of rose complimented the moules perfectly.
The beds were comfy and we enjoyed a good night sleep. One of the highlights of our stay was the suffolk breakfast - the full english was delicious with the sausages and bacon exceptional. The white lion is the perfecf place to explore suffolk and enjoy a break in aldeburgh at any time of the year. We'll definitely be returning...

A revisit after six years, what a transformation. We went as a result of a postal shot, and expected a budget based experience, we underestimated the place. The food was excellent with unlimited access to the whole menu. The included afternoon tea, served on arrival, and on each subsequent day bordered on the extravagant. The young enthusiastic staff served breakfast at table, no shuffling round a buffet. The décor reflects the maritime location without pretension and the place has a light friendly atmosphere.

It is not a bucket and spade resort, but if you like big skies, an unspoilt coastline, walks through reedbeds and scrub, independent retail outlets and local art, you will enjoy being there. We did and will stay again.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for, however we had a standard inland room overlooking a side street and had no...

Our third visit to the White Lion travelling from the North East in February to visit relatives in East Anglia. Our package included dinner and we chose from the a la carte on both nights with a good mix of fish (we had scallop, plaice and sea bass) and meat dishes (good choices steak, homemade pate, confit duck and cooked breakfast). Well presented and delicious. The White Lion does not subscribe to the practice of informing you that you have to choose from a specific menu or a "meal allowance" poor practice adopted by places that really should know better.
All the rooms we have stayed in have been spotless with comfortable beds and little extras, only quibble - the room was rather snug and getting into the wardrobe a challenge. The hotel is on a number of levels and there can be some moving up and down short flights of stairs. Staff and management are very pleasant and I felt if this had been more of an issue for us we could have raised this and got a positive response.
Fabulous location overlooking Aldeburgh's pretty shingle beach.

This must be the best value for money beachfront hotel in the UK. The location is stunning, the interior decor is boutique but friendly. The food and service exceptional and the staff very friendly.
This was a return visit fro my wife and I as we felt the same last year when we visited. I cannot speak highly enough of the whole experience.

Room Tip: Sea views are great as the hotel is right on the beach.

Brings a smile to my face when ever I arrive at the white lion. Had lunch, dinner and breakfast, and without hesitation, the staff and the quality of the food are fantastic! They were also able to accommodate my wife's wheat allergy.
Well done them.

Room Tip: Room 26 is a corner room and you get the best views.
