Our room was "in the gods" but once there, it was very comfortable with antique bed but modern fixtures and fittings. Anyone visiting would have to be careful what room they were assigned to. Breakfast was a treat served in the light and airy dining room. Located right in the heart of Bury.
As someone who travels a lot and gets worn down by the often poor attitude of hotel staff the Chantry showed me how to do everything right. Booking was easy, price was very reasonable, upon arrival nothing was too much trouble, room was superb, clean and comfortable. Following day we had a wonderful breakfast served by a team who really seemed to care that we were being looked after. This is a hotel which is focused on service and quality, there are not lots of facilities it is simply superb accommodation delivered by a friendly caring team. The hotel is located a couple of minutes walk from the town centre and has secure off road parking.
A huge thank you to the whole team at the Chantry and I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.
We were booked to have a weekend stay at The Chantry and despite receiving confirmation of our online booking, we received a panic phone call today asking if our booking had been cancelled. When we said no and that we were still looking forward to our trip, the owner admitted that there had been a mistake and the booking had not been made and they were overbooked. He was clearly horrified and spent most of the day trying to find an alternative solution for us. It was a busy weekend and everywhere was full. Finally he found a room at The Angel at a reduced rate and additionally offered us a free stay as compensation for the difficulty. We are really looking forward to our stay and would just like to add our compliments to the management of The Chantry for turning a potential disaster into a more than satisfactory outcome. I stayed in this wonderful hotel about 27 years ago. I loved it then and we loved it even more this time. Wonderful location, excellent rooms, and you also get a full breakfast cooked to order. The whole staff is friendly and the hotel is located a short distance from the downtown area. We loved the Green King Dog and Partridge pub just around the corner. Totally in a safe location, central to everything.
We checked into the Chantry Hotel for two nights recently. We were tempted by the reviews already on Trip Advisor and we were really glad we did. Lovely room, very clean and well decorated and maintained (not easy in the Tudor annex). Breakfast was all that we could ask for and all the staff contributed to a lovely few days in Bury St Edmunds.
On route to Norfolk this was a stop off in Bury St Edmund's. 14 room hotel right in the centre of the town.
Arrived early parked free expecting just to leave bags in reception. Shown to our room in the annex. Now normally I get the jitters when the annex is mentioned. Up the steep staircase to our room which faced the street, Furnishings bright and a huge comfy bed and even managed a sofa as well.
The town was grand and after a few sherberts retired to a good nights sleep. Breakfast was just the ticket catering for all tastes and appetites
