Thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday night break for 2 people at this lovely 16th Century house. Dinner, bed and breakfast for only £103 for the two of us ! Amazing value!
The food is top class, the setting beautiful, and the staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast waitress, in particular, was superb!

This hotel is a gem.

A home from home - very well run hotel - very personal and attentive service - beautiful grounds and buildings - real and genuinely caring staff - really nice food - can't recommend it highly enough!

Many thanks especially to Yvonne, Maeve and Becky.

Having just completed our fourth two-day stay at Ravenwood Hall within the space of 18 months I must say it has become our favourite place for a short break. The hotel is situated in lovely grounds with very friendly and attentive staff that combine well to make a truly wonderful stay. Two of our visits were to celebrate my mother’s 90th and 91st birthdays. Yvonne and her staff always make such a fuss of Mum that she cannot wait to return for another visit. To that end we are planning two further visits this year in July and October, health permitting.

We particularly look forward to breakfast so we can engage in conversation with waitress Maeve as she is such a bubbly, caring and thoughtful person. It is probably unfair to single out one particular member of staff but she really is one of life’s treasures. Breakfast for us at Ravenwood without Maeve is unthinkable and we check when we book to ensure sure she will not be away on leave during our stay.

We always stay in the same two adjacent Mews rooms as we require one with disabled access and a low level bed. These rooms are always very clean and well presented. Restaurant food is truly excellent and served in very pleasant surroundings.

Negatives are indeed very hard to find. The gravel driveway which runs close to the Mews rooms can, at times, be a slightly irritating source of traffic noise particularly if you are, like me, an early to bed person and a very light sleeper. It is a shame that the driveway changes from tarmac to gravel at this point although I suppose from an aesthetic point of view it is better that way.

We are looking forward to our next visit which cannot come soon enough!

Warm welcome at a friendly family run hotel.
The main hall looks original very quaint and what appear to be some eccentric staff.
Meals are bespoke
Ideal place to come for quiet weekend staying in one of the mews.
My only faulting with the stay was the shower curtain was very dirty and greasey
Would not put me off staying again.

We were here with friends for a 2 night new year break, with the new year's eve party on the first night, which was a good party, although the tables of ten were on the cramped side, eight would have been much more comfortable. Food was good, although no choice as to what you could have as far as I could tell, entertainment not bad with the local mobile disco doing his best Tony Blackburn impression. Still, music choice wasn't too bad which suited a reasonably senior crowd, not much to complain about.

The hotel is very atmospheric, steeped in history, although some of that history is unknown. I agree with some of the other comments on here, particularly with regard to room ventilation and the pathetic TV, the like of which you used to find in cheap B&Bs 20 years ago! Satellite TV you won't find here, nor flat screen technology. Some of the decoration in the rooms also leaves alot to be desired, ripped curtains, curtains that don't meet in the middle, thereby daylight in the early hours a potential problem, and this in one of their best four poster rooms.

Service downstairs was a bit hit and miss, the senior staff in the restaurant are excellent, you feel sure they've worked in some top hotels and restaurants but the junior staff, friendly as they are, are lazy and work shy. Also the food on our second night was beautifully presented but some over- and some under-cooked.

To sum up, a lovely place with a very pleasantly relaxed atmosphere, a little too close to the A12 for a really peaceful night's sleep, some attention required to fixtures and fittings and also to training of the junior staff and not competitive from a value point of view, it's not a particularly cheap place to stay, and thereby should meet consistently high standards throughout, I feel.

Had our wedding at Ravenwood Hall in Sept 10, outside in the garden. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff during the arrangements. On the day we were all shown the greatest courteously and quite frankly couldn't have asked for anything more. Our wedding party contained a number of small children who had a great time playing on the lawns, the food was nothing short of fantastic, our bedroom very special in fact the whole venue was simply perfect and a very fitting backdrop for our wedding photo's.

I cannot recommend it highly enough, particulary as this wedding was planned in less than 5 months.........oh and breakfast was very good too.

We had our wedding here in July 2010 and i can honestly say it was the most special day of my life - and i am not easy to please! Yvonne the wedding co-ordinantor and her staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much for them. Plus they always had smiles on their faces and wished us well.

Our wedding day was the hottest day of the year but the staff did everything they could to keep people cool and no one complained it was too hot. They even put a fan behind me and my husband whilst eating at the top table. Drinks were constantly served and topped up and the food was simply delicious. Some guests asked for more vegetables etc and this was not a problem. My perfectionist family spotted a few cobwebs a couple of days before, but these were all dealt with. In fact i've never seen the Pavilion so clean. Another plus is that there is loads of room for car parking. This is one less stress for your guests.

We stayed in the Oak Room rather than the Bridal suite as the view in the Oak room overlooks the grounds and is much prettier. The bridal suite overlooks a car park! We had a four poster bed which was divine and the bathroom was spacious and packed with amenities/towels. Yvonne even arranged for a fan to be put in our room due to the heat.

Breakfast was lovely (although the portion was not huge) and again the service was impeccable. I cannot understand the poor reviews. Ravenwood Hall is a beautiful place to have your wedding reception (we got married in church). The location is breathtaking as there are so many places to have pictures. It is quintessentially English and would look picture perfect any time of the year but in the Spring/Summer it is in its element. Ravenwood has romantic and charming settings which are perfect for weddings.

The food was cooked to perfection. We had canapes on arrival, sit down meal and an evening buffet. All portions were plentiful and were presented beautifully. No one complained and we had 70+ guests throughout the day. The staff are wonderful and the rooms are more than suitable for a 1-2 night stay. yes they are a bit pricey, but what do you expect for a special occassion? The room was elegant and worth every penny.

Yvonne stayed with us until the very end which was gone Midnight and made sure we and other relatives checked in ok. I don't know many managers that would do that. I highly recommend Ravenwood Hall to anyone especially for a wedding. Both me and my husband and all our guests were made to feel very special and i cannot thank all the staff enough.
