We recently had a family Sunday lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. We chose this location as we had spent our wedding night here nearly 17 years ago. The location was as we remembered it with a nice drive and lovely gardens. Upon arrival we were greeted by name and shown to a lovely table by the door overlooking the gardens. The service was first class, even with a small mistake with one of the starters which was replaced with no fuss. The food was great with good size portions. Most of us had the beef which had been cooked to perfection, and the lamb was great. The staff were attentive including the owner who seemed to be rushing around ensuring all his guests were looked after.
I would recommend the caramel and chocolate tart for desert, absolutely delicious.

A perfect place for a relaxing Sunday lunch being spoilt by some great staff

Had a one night visit, stayed at this hotel at least a dozen times in the past fifteen years. Lovely setting and the food is always superb. Staff excellent, a special mention for Maeve. Its nice to sit outside during nice weather and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Visited the restaurant for an evening meal with 2 friends looking for a venue for a leaving party for a group of 25 people. We had a really lovely meal choosing from the summer set menu. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was well cooked and presented nicely. We decided to book for our party. Hopefully my review will be equally as good after our party on the 5th July.

Taken here for a working lunch. Sat outside under the pergola on a glorious day in their beautiful gardens. Delicious lunch - the salted caramel and chocolate tart was sublime - and the service was friendly and attentive. A wonderful lunch venue

We were quite charmed by this hotel but if you are looking for slick impersonal service or uniform corporate style rooms with a lot of added extras (a pen, trouser press, conditioner) then perhaps you won't find it here. Instead, we slept in a massive bedroom (with our dog in her bed on the floor beside us) with a lovely bathroom complete with power shower, and a great view over the front garden. Breakfast was wonderful and Maeve the waitress was interested in engaging us in conversation, which we enjoyed. We thought the room rate was good value and we were pleased to spend some time in the cosy bar relaxing. This hotel is more our style than many we have stayed in. The housekeeping was good, but I would think a cupboard named "biscuits" would need to have more than one packet of (two small) biscuits in it, and if there are two pairs of slippers, there should probably be two waffle bathrobes, although my husband would never have been able to wear the one that was there, which I think is size 12 . Nevertheless our room was nicely tidied and cleaned for us during our stay. Overall the hotel is delightfully idiosyncratic and we would like to return for its peaceful setting and enjoyable atmosphere.

Room Tip: We stayed in Deans room which is massive. Take your own toiletries.

Had the most amazing weekend at Ravenwood Hall.

Now I am not easily pleased especially when it comes to my dog, but Ravenwood Hall delivered on all fronts of pet friendliness. From our Mews Room (in a converted stable block adjoining the main hotel) we were afforded access straight onto the grounds and from there you could walk (without fear of cars) on an old estate road, through to the woods. The staff (and the majority of residents) seemed to love dogs and Hettie (my long-haired Weimaraner) was treated to much gratefully received pats and cuddles. It was also very refreshing that she was allowed in the bar dining area of the hotel, which is as good as any restaurant and we could still order from the full restaurant menu (and top notch food it was too). Now Hettie is quite a size when lying on her side and the staff coped admirably and with a smile, and allows offered her water.

The grounds are fantastic and provide a perfect place to sit and have a drink or a spot of lunch (tables and chairs provided) or a game of croquet on the lawn.

I was hoping that I could move in permanently but alas we only stayed for a couple of nights. Now where is their telephone number so I can rebook.......

My wife and I visited The Ravenwood Hotel for seven nights' recently and found to our dismay that the hot water in our room was very slow passing through the pipework and the shower tended to cut out or run cold for no apparent reason. This is possibly due to the age of the building. The hotel moved us to a different room and this problem was alleviated somewhat.
The staff were as accommodating as they could be and we generally enjoyed our time with them.
Slight problems were encountered on a number of occasions at breakfast when requesting a teapot of hot water for our own special tea, but were rectified eventually by a charming young waitress.

Room Tip: Try Deans room unless you require a four poster bed.
