“Stayed for a Wedding”

This place just oozes charm!! The furnishing are awesome and the staff brilliant!
The standards are high, unpretentious, relaxed and friendly.

I can't say enough about the place, you wanna unwind? Go Here!!

It's old, and stunning... You may not find air conditioning - but will will get wifi and anything else you need.

Loved it!!!

We went from Gloucester to attend a family wedding on 27th September 2013. We did not stay at the hotel as it was booked. We stayed down the A14 in a Travellodge about 15 minutes East. The wedding venue was good. Staff friendly and good. Food excellent? The bar in the main house was very good and the draft beers excellent. The House dates from about 1530. Quiet and off the main road. I would recommend this as a Wedding venue.

Room Tip: We went to the wedding venue rather than the hotel. Family who did stay in the hotel were very happy...

Just stayed in the St Edmunds Room at the Ravenwood Hall Hotel. Oh my god never again, we were kept awake most of the night due to the sound of the water tank above us filling up and the sound of pumps going. When my boyfriend looked for someone to speak to there was no night porter or any answer to the main phone when he called. Must say a little concerned about no night porter for safety reasons and emergencies. We shouldn't of worried about setting an alarm as the pipes and tank started again at 7am and ended any hope of a lay in. When my boyfriend mentioned this at checking out the rude receptionist dismissed his complaint and said it had happened 5 years ago and had been sorted, and that if he wanted to complain he had to write to the owner, however i bet that with the account paid we are not holding out much hope. Food selection was average, but the service from the kitchen was good. Having read the other reviews, the complaining similarities have a constant theme, SORT THE WATER WORKS OUT !!!. As for being the second best hotel in Bury St Edmunds well I am amazed, the other hotels are either in the dark ages or Ravenwood has a lot of friends who are convenient with the truth. Tripadvisor please put this comment on as we all have an obligation to advise and protect other potential hotel guest's.

Room Tip: Don't, avoid at all costs and continue along the A14 to another town

I have been staying here for a few months. During my stay all the staff have made me very welcome. The food is spot on. And the hotel is set in wonderful grounds. Not many hotels that you see a family of deer walking across the car park early morning

Recently visited Ravenwood Hall restaurant with the family for Sunday lunch as a special treat and we were all disappointed with the dinner in relation to the amount it cost. The starters and deserts were very fussy and not particularly well done, in this case less would have been more. The roast dinner portions were very small considering the cost for just the main roast ranged from £17 - £19. They were very lean with the vegetables and gravy was like water. It is a shame because a year ago I would have said the Sunday lunch was one of the best but this is sadly now no longer the case in my opinion.

A lovely country Hotel with a relaxed and charming atmosphere. The food and service were excellent.
Worth knowing, only sheets and blankets in keeping with the ambiance of the Hotel and old antique beds with a squeak!
