“Good market let down by Town Planners”
Reviewed 8 February 2014

I've known Bury Market for 46 years and seen it change character completely. It's a 2 day market, Wednesday's and Saturdays, but the Wednesday market is a small affair compared to Saturdays. It relied on the old Cattle Market to draw customers and since that has gone, it's not fared well.
Parking is the big drawback here. There is nothing within easy distance of the market unless you want to pay high prices to park behind the new arc shopping centre (yes, deliberate small 'a', no-one ever found out why!). Oh yes, toilets. Well, none, really. The only one is within the arc and really well hidden.
The new arc centre effectively cuts the market off from the shoppers, with a proposed link having never been built. Be careful if you cross from the market to the arc, as the road between is supposed to be closed to traffic, but no-one takes any notice.
The market still offers some choice but nothing like it was. Fruit and Veg is the big seller here and the other traders come and go. Ian's food stall, at the top of St. John's St, is a must. Great value and some unusual foods you won't find anywhere else in Bury. All in all, well worth a visit to take in some local character and find a few quirky stalls from the Casual Traders, but January is a really bad month for it. Over half the stalls don't bother with January.
Take time to visit Moyse's Hall museum which is located in the Market Square.

“Bury market a must visit”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

A very old town with a lot of quaint little shops, but has a new Arc for all the modern shopping. You will need a whole day to visit here. Plenty of parking and places to eat.

We were staying near the town centre to plays golf.if you are nearby do take the opportunity to visit this lovely old town .there is a market Wednesdays & Saturdays which take up the whole town centre .a visit to the cathedral is a must it is such a beautiful building especially since it has been refurbished.
There are a variety of places to eat to suit all tastes and the Gardens should be included on a nice day

“Plenty for everyone”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

You can buy most things for a decent price in this fairly substantial outdoor market. Particularly good for fresh fruit and veg. Covers a large part of the market square so there is room to move around and browse. If you can't find what you are looking for In the market then you can just slip into one of the surrounding shops

“Fun and busy”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

Markets in England are always fun and busy. There are many vendors and the atmosphere of the market with it's hawking vendors is classic. Picked up some lovely bread and fruit.
