Intimate cinema, just two screens, with restaurant attached. Luxury sofa seating or normal seats and just a lovely friendly place. Like being part of a club, membership is worthwhile, you basically get your money back after watching 3 films. Members allowed to wander into the cinema after a meal with their glass of wine, or cup of tea, lovely welcoming atmosphere, well worth at least one visit.

Come to a little cinema and experience lovely food before or after. Have a drink while you watch the screen. The 2 rooms to watch the films are not enormous and there is a cosy atmosphere and a really good feeling to this little place. If in Bury for a holiday do try it out. Its worth it. We are members.

There are two cinemas in the town with Cineworld being the most popular and then the more 'up-market' cinema, the Picturehouse.

Where the two differ is the atmosphere. Cineworld caters for most people which means if you don't mind being disturbed by crying children or ladish teenagers who like to voice their personal comments throughout the film, then it's a good cinema with large screening rooms. If, however, you are looking for a more 'quality' experience, Picturehouse is the place to be.

Unlike the standard Cineworld seats, the seats in the Picturehouse are comfy, with sofas along the back rows, and more importantly, you can enjoy the film without getting unexpected elbow-jabs from the person sitting beside you. Also, the food/drink is of the best quality. You're not limited to just popcorn or pick n' mix. The cafe downstairs has a wide selection of homemade cakes and coffee which you are more than welcome to take with you into the screen.

If at any point you need to escape to the toilet to sort out your mascara after an emotional film, or if you genuinely need the toilet, you won't be disappointed by the modern and clean facilities.

Although the Picturehouse isn't able to show all of the new releases that cineworld can, it offers a selection including independent films and 'special' showings of certain films.

If you want an evening where you can relax (and eat in their cafe/restaurant if you so wish), not be troubled by disruptive people and want to avoid the type of people who prefer to throw popcorn around the cinema rather than watch the adverts, you must experience the Picturehouse.

I love this cinema. It's a great place to watch a film with comfy seats, proper staff who show you to your seats and a great selection of snacks and drinks. My favourite place in Bury.

I am not usually a film buff, whereas my wife was a regular, but I thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable seating and general ambiance. Nice snacks & drinks. Would definitely recommend to anyone who appreciates comfort and a nice welcome.
