Staff were very friendly and service very efficient. Food was good . I had steak pie one day and fish and chips another. Both very well presented and tasted delicious.Haven't stayed so can't comment on the rooms

I had heard locally that the Bushell was good so I booked a table for 4 for Sunday lunch.
I love the decor and it is spacious with different sitting areas. They had obviously been busy as most of the tables were dirty and took a while to be cleared. The staff were pleasant but were trying to serve at the bar as well as the food so service was slow.
My sweet potato fries were sitting on an inch of oil - the waitress agreed and took them off our bill. My husband was disappointed with his meat pie and my daughters too were underwhelmed with their choice. We were overall very disappointed with the quality of the food.

Had an overnight stay in The Bushel last week. It cost £74.95 per night including a full English breakfast. The room was very spacious and we were made very welcome. We had another comfortable stay. Worth the money as the second night we stayed somewhere else cheaper and the difference was noticeable.

This little hotel over a pub was surprisingly quiet at night for sleeping, and close to everything worth seeing in Bury St. Edmunds. All of the staff were amazing, in particular Mary. They were attentive to our needs, and made offers to call and arrange cabs to the airport, getting several quotes and making all of the arrangements, without a hitch. Really appreciated the easy-going atmosphere. Lovely, full English breakfast, served efficiently, with great coffee. Other bar beverages were reasonably priced and we chose to end most of our evenings with a night cap and then up to our cosy room. No air conditioning and it was quite warm, but the desk fan did help to keep us cool. My hubby loved the fact that while I was getting ready, he could wait in the pub. Very friendly and courteous at all times. We'd go back! Thank you!

We stayed one night here en route from Lincolnshire to Hampshire as we wanted to do some family history research in nearby Newmarket,

We arrived around lunch time and had been given good instructions for the car park from the Records office where we had collected a certificate. The car park is quite small and although the bays are named (after rooms as well as beers) you can park anywhere. I was a little concerned that coming back later we would not get a space, but we were able to.

We chose to have lunch in the bar and I cannot fault the service, the food was well presented and very tasty. I was also advised of a deal they had on, which saved me a few pennies.

We came back to the pub in the evening to check in and we were very happy with our room - overlooking the front. We had to have the windows open as it was quite warm and the fan on, but because we were only able to find a plug socket on the little table it was a little ineffective. We were surprised about the lack of plug sockets as everything that required electricity was hard wired into the wall, It was a little inconvenient as my husband has to plug in a breathing machine and had we not got an extension lead we would have been scuppered.

The bed was comfy and we both slept reasonably well.

The breakfast menu was extensive and the lady who was serving was very friendly and helpful. The menu was very flexible and you were able to custom a breakfast to suit if you wanted. We were very impressed with the whole thing.

In fact so impressed that we would certainly consider staying here again as we would like to visit again for a little longer.

we stayed for one night and the room was very comfortable if not a little too warm. We were provided with a fan but that was next to useless. The breakfast was very good with a varied selection. Finding the car park was a challenge and more info on the website would be useful

Had a lovely overnight stay, friendly staff in the bar, nicely decorated bedrooms. Very central with a car park at the rear of the pub, which was really convenient. Breakfast was good with a varied choice.
