We were lucky to get tickets to see Fair port convention again in the Apex, Bury St Edmunds after seeing them last year. Now what ever your taste in music and I know Folk Rock doesn't float every ones boat the venue here is more important.
The design of the hall means that the sound quality in the venue is superb and makes it very clear for the top notes. The seating is comfortable with clear views and the Bars on the first floor help with the half time interval.
Try to get seats either towards the back of the stalls or the centre of the balcony to get the really best sound if you decide to get seats on the balcony near the stage you get a good view but the high speakers could blast you a bit.

managed to get some tickets for this event, ruby as always was first class.
we sat on the front row which was a little bit to loud as the speakers were about 2ft from my ear, the interval spoilt the night as there were not enough bar staff to cope with all the customers, so we had a far from satisfactory wait to get a drink, only to have to rush it as the bell sounded for the concert restart.
Apex employ more staff please
as a concert venue the sound and location are very good, easy parking nearby

Went to the venue for a gig and found the bar staf where no particualy quick and it was over priced for the quality of the products! Wines where terrible and the knowledge of the wine products was considerably poor! Its almost like they don't care as this is the only way to get a drink when you are there! I don't blame the staff I feel that maybe better training is required and better products should be brought in that reflect decent prices!

Venue is too small a venue for getting back a lot of cost for the council and us. Well known pop artists and groups etc; will not come here due to the size - it should have been bigger like the venues in Cambridge and King's Lynn. I totally agree with Tony N's review.

This is a wonderful venue with superb acoustics. As a resident of Bury St Edmunds it means I can see a variety of artists on a regular basis without breaking the bank.Bury would be a poorer place without it.
