There were 20 of us altogether (8 adults, 12 children) and we had a really brilliant new year, staying three nights in total. The bunk house was excellent - loads of character and a perfect combination of bunkhouse convenience with holiday home charm. It's very new and has clearly been designed with great thought and care - there is much attention to detail.
We walked into Lavenham one day along some lovely footpaths (though we did a shuttle run with cars to ferry the kids back again as some of them are quite young). The next day we went to the Whitehorse pub for lunch (as recommended in the list of pubs given to us by Juliet), some of us cycling there on the bunkhouse bikes. The pub was great - perfect for what we wanted and very accommodating of a large group.
Would love to come back in the summer - we had a great time and would highly recommend it.
I hired the Old Brooder Bunkhouse for my cousins Hen Party and it was just perfect. Juliet was so helpful throughout, it's newly built and the spaces are all perfect for a large group. Space for everyone to both relax and celebrate. The kitchen is so well-equipped, there really was everything we could need.
The road bikes are fantastic and Juliet has so many maps and suggestions of places to visit and the roads were very quiet. The views from the property are gorgeous and the surrounding towns and villages so picturesque.
We all had a wonderful weekend and I would highly recommend the Bunkhouse!
We stayed at The Bunkhouse for a weekend at the beginning of September and it could not have been better. There were 16 of us in the end (5 Mum's, 11 Children ranging from 4 to 9) and the accommodation was perfect. We hadn't realised that it was all brand new, built in February 2017, I'm not sure the photos do it justice.
There were plenty of beds to us to choose from and they were extremely comfortable. The reading light for each bed was a nice touch. The ratio of toilets and showers to people was spot on, we didn't once have any queuing for bathrooms. The water was hot and plentiful, the kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you could want. The house was very clean throughout.
There were lots of things for the children to do (table football, ping pong etc.) and they absolutely loved feeding the very friendly pigs. We loved spending the weekend exploring the local countryside by foot and thoroughly enjoyed den-building in the local woods. The sitting room was extremely comfortable and it was hard to extract ourselves from it at times! Wifi was hit and miss but I think that's perfectly acceptable when you're deep in the English countryside. Juliet was extremely helpful throughout, I would definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.
This was a truly lovely place to spend a weekend for mums with our kids. We go away every year to various places and there is usually something 'missing'. However, this was perfect, very clean and spacious accommodation, with lovely rooms throughout. Really well fitted out kitchen, comfortable beds, lovely showers and a fantastic cosy lounge area. Throughout the house there is a lot of attention to cosy detail from the art on the walls, to the handmade oak beds and reading lights by each bed. The garden is great to spend time in, a table to sit in the sun, with a herb garden running along the wall. We played corquet, table football, badminton and table tennis. Brand new bikes and all the accessories wereavailable for use for the adults, and we took the kids bikes and spent an afternoon following one of the suggested routes given in the house information and stopped at a great pub. Our shopping delivery was unpacked for us oinarrival and we topped up our barbq with sausages from the local farm. Couldn't have asked for more, very friendly hosts who accommodated us beautifully. Would highly recommend it! My 10 year old daughter said "The rooms were very cosy and the house felt safe and warm, I loved it!".
I organised a hen do at this venue and was so impressed with everything from start to finish. The barn is beautiful and the photos don't do it justice at all. Lovely, clean accommodation, plenty of good showers and in the most gorgeous location. It is perfect for a girly weekend away if you want peace and quiet, although we organised a party bus and went for a night out in Cambridge and this worked out really well! It's actually really fun all being in the same room. We got a big food and drink order which Juliet kindly unpacked so everything was waiting for us on arrival. I looked at lots of comparable cottages/houses in the area and this is by far the best value for money. I highly recommend this place for your stay.
What can I say! Having had the perfect hen do in mind and struggling to find somewhere affordable that suited the needs of my very relaxed group of 17 women, I had almost given up hope when one of my bridesmaids stumbled upon this gem. We had been looking for somewhere to get away and chill out without a stripper or a fluffy pink head bopper in sight, but rather trees and fields and rivers, and this did NOT disappoint. The location was beautifully rural and so peaceful, but also just a short drive away from local shops and pubs. The house itself was immaculately clean and set up for groups like us, with plenty of showers, toilets, comfy sofa space and long tables for group meals. The bedrooms were spotless, the beds were incredibly comfy and there was plenty of space for outdoor activities as well as car parking. Juliet was a brilliant host, catering for all our needs and being so accommodating. One of my friends ran a pottery painting class and another ran a yoga class, both of which worked well in the space we had. We spent a beautiful sunny Saturday kayaking down the river to a lovely pub where we sat and had some drinks and food before heading back. I just cannot fault this place, it made for the most fantastic hen do, every single person enjoyed it and it was the perfect location for the group to get to know each other and enjoy a lovely relaxing weekend before the wedding mayhem at the end of June. Thank you SO much Juliet for such a wonderful stay and we will definitely be looking to come back one day!
We stayed here for my sisters hen at the end of May. After a long searching process I found the Brooder Bunkhouse and I couldn't believe my luck- Stunning accommodation at a very affordable price! When I first booked, the building was still in renovation processes but I knew it would be fabulous based on the rest of the Tudor Barn website. Well, it far exceeded my highest expectations!
The whole group was so impressed by the luxury of the bunkhouse and the beauty of the farm and surrounding area. The eclectic and globally inspired decor received so many compliments. The bunkhouse is finished to such a high standard with a gorgeous kitchen, living room and ridiculously comfortable beds. The building is superbly set up for groups and accommodated all our group activities perfectly over the weekend. All the recommendations that Juliet, the owner, made prior to us arriving were invaluable and really took the hassle out of organising the weekend.
Here are just a few of things we did-
We went on a lovely bike ride to local Kersey using the bunkhouse bikes. The countryside is stunning and the bikes were so comfortable and easy to ride. They were a pleasure to cycle. (Juliet provided maps and a local quiz which definitely took the hassle out of organising a group cycle)
I organised a life drawing class with a hen party twist, through a company suggested by Juliet. Eastern Life Drawing were brilliant! I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Rob, the model, tailored the whole class around my sister and prepared a special theme to make it personal to her. It was so much fun and was hilarious too. I don't think any of the hens will forget it in a hurry!
We ordered in homemade catered food from the Suffolk homemade food- it was delicious!
We also ordered Indian from local Lavenham- Memsaab had so many dishes on offer and some really nice alternatives to your regular Indian. The whole group commented on how tasty it was. (The only small drawback is that you need to drive and collect the food, worth keeping in mind)
The beautiful bunkhouse and all of Juliet's recommendations made for a really memorable weekend that my sister loved. I will be actively looking for a reason to return and book again!
