We decided last minute to go away for the weekend and the Shilling Grange pictures on the web looked good.It was new and there were only a few reviews but we thought we would take the chance. Are we glad we did! We were having lunch at The Great House as a treat. When I booked Sheila told me to ring when we'd finished and she would make sure she was there to greet us. Within ten minutes of my call both Shela and Bob were by the door and told us all about the history of the house.Bob helped us with our baggage and took us to our room. We were given to the Old Grange Suite a large beautifully timbered room with a sofa, a really comfortable bed and a state of the art TV. The wardrobes and drawer space were sufficient for a three month stay. The bathroom had a large bath and a double size shower. As well as the usual coffee, tea, chocolate, biscuits etc., there were some small but delicious pieces of cake on the tray next to the kettle. It was particularly hot and whilst sitting in their large garden Bob can over to us with a couple of bottles of iced water (no charge). Now that's service for a B&B. We came to relax and we were happy to forgo breakfast so that we could get up late. However others have said how good it is and I can quite believe it. This is a truly excellent B&B with really friendly owners who care about their clients and will go that extra mile to make sure they are happy. We have stayed in high standard hotels and self catering accommodation in Lavenham on a number of occasions. This compares very favorably. Needless to say my wife and I really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back.

We were two couples on a cycling tour of Suffolk. We opted to base at Shilling Grange in Lavenham. The house dates from the 15th century. Recently the building had a top to bottom renovation The rooms and baths are spacious and well appointed. Located on a quiet street. beautiful gardens. Owner Bob's day job is designing cars for Aston-Martin. Lots of good stories of Aston-Martins well-heeled customers. Great breakfasts.

Room Tip: The two rooms we had were great.

We booked Shilling Grange for a two night stay to attend a wedding nearby. Sheila and Bob are wonderful hosts and made us feely really welcome. It was like visiting friends. The room was immaculate (as was the rest of the house), the bed very comfortable, bathroom warm and clean - in fact we had to turn the heating down in the bathroom! We stayed in the Jane Taylor suite overlooking the beautiful gardens on one side.Tea and Coffee making facility in room and TV (good signal) and Wifii. Breakfasts were great - lots of choice. You can order as much or as little as you like. It was with reluctance we left the dining room! Off road parking was a big attraction for us as the Town gets very busy with parking difficult on holiday weekends. Lavenham has lots to offer - lots of quaint shops, tea rooms, historical interest everywhere, beautiful Church and restaurants. We didn't get to try No. 10 but it looked very busy. On our list for next time. We hope to return sometime soon. Not cheap, but in our view worth the money. We think the swimming pool will be available for use, but check with the owners.

Room Tip: The Jane Taylor suite was lovely, quiet, peaceful and extremely comfortable. If we had one issue, it was that there was no shower over the bath (there WAS a hand held shower attachment) but that was my fault for not checking first. All of the rooms are lovely (we had a tour!), some bigger than others.

My wife and myself had an excellent two night stay at Shilling Grange.

The hosts were extremely helpful, and showed us around the premises. Jane Taylor lived with her family at Shilling Grange in Shilling Street Lavenham Suffolk, where she wrote Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in 1806.

There are also two priest holes, one hs been found and the second is still awaiting it's discovery.

The furnishings are superb, including the bedrooms and the lounge.

Having an excellent breakfast each day, one is then ready to tour the area.

We visited the the Big House and Angel restaurants for excellent meals.

Highly recommended !

Room Tip: There are three lovely rooms - all with there own personality.
