The crown is a spacious hotel, the decor was in need of upgrading, the food for me was too fancy,I like good old fashioned grub, the food my friends had was excellent and well presented, the service was very good also.

We popped in for lunch recently whilst doing a walk in the area and needed to plan ahead because we had my dog with us.
The staff at the crown were superb; friendly & helpful. We were told dogs are allowed in the bar area so we chose to eat there, where they even brought a fresh bowl of water for my furry friend!

The surroundings were clean, smart & comfortable, and lunch was delicious!

Thank you very much, I highly recommend

Booked a room for New Years Eve, as a late booking, Warm welcome, adequate room in the courtyard.bed a bit low but comfortable enough. Bathroom ok a bit cold, no heating but could not really complain. Breakfast was very good and all for £47.50.. Would stay again for a one night budget stay...

Was offered accommodation by company , checked in , ok so far .. Shown room no 14 omg . Stank of damp ,paint blistering around door and by bed, tiny room , drafty, bathroom from the eighties , no signal for phone and really noisy with road traffic . Had a shower , had some dinner ..... Poor to average , food tasted cheap . Service was good , and the bar looks ok but I'd avoid this 1 . Went back to room packed and checked out .. No way was I staying there .

We had enjoyed a walk to Melford Hall and stopped to have lunch in the garden on a sunny day. Lovely menu with a good choice. The Sunday roast was enjoyed by three (1 xpork and 2 x beef) and was very tasty. Followed by a fruit crumble and custard. Lovely. Good beer to accompany it.

We had a really warm welcome from the landlord who gave us some great tips about places to visit. The room itself was spacious and well equipped. However, the bathroom floor was covered in hairs! Breakfast was really well cooked and the bar staff in the evening were really friendly. Overall I would recommend - it could have been a cleaner blip!

Attended a friend's wedding down the road so this hotel made for a perfect location. Quite a quirky building and old fashioned rooms. Staff friendly and would definitely return! The village is beautiful and definitely worth a look.
