We recently attended a Wedding at the Black Lion Hotel, Michael and his staff could not do enough for all the family and certainly added to and made the day go beautifully. The rooms are all different and wonderfully stylish, the food was delivered and presented superbly!
Well done Black Lion (thoroughly recommended).

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful!

The hotel is overall very good with attentive (but not in-your-face) staff. The food was very good if possibly a £ or two per course too much; the food quality was however excellent, portion size good, presentation slightly modern but not OTT. Breakfast was exceptionally good & generous - local where possible, cooked to order & not too slow.

The hotel lies at the end of the village overlooking the green & just a 2-minute walk from the main street shops, antique centers, pubs and other restaurants.

Minor niggles - no biscuits with the tea/coffee making facilities in the room, no toiletries in the bathroom, a noisy bathroom fan - but at least it stopped quickly.

Overall a very enjoyable stay & definitely somewhere we would go back to.

Room Tip: I think the rooms all have a view either over the village or the green, just ask. The Barollo - whi...

We had our wedding at the black lion on Saturday 16th February 2013. It really was the best day of our lives. The staff, particularly Michael the managaer, were fantastic from start to finish. The service, food and accommodation was superb. We were treated so well and every little detail was looked at and delivered so well. Michael is an amazing manager and organiser of staff who were also so kind, helpful and quick to help out in any way.
Our family and friends could not have faulted the day and we will always be grateful to the hotel for such a lovely weekend. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel boh for a stay and a wedding venue. Thank you Michael, all staff and melford. Hanorah and Anthony Murphy.

Room Tip: Every room is beautifully decorated as all our wedding guests stayed. The chablis and Sancerre rooms...

Had an overnight stay and dinner at Long Melford. Very nice rooms that all appear individually decorated. Staff extremely friendly and very helpful. Had dinner and whilst it was very pleasent portion sizes were small for our party. Breakfast was a very good with a number of choices including smoked fish and all cooked to order. Easy parking and a very short walk into the main high street in Long Melford. Enjoyed our stay they just need to increase dinner portion sizes.

We stumbled upon this little gem by accident, I am so glad we did - it was a gorgeous pub, divine food and staff who could not do enough, not to forget a beautiful dog - who resides there.

It is the pub/ hotel that all others should learn from.

Dotted around the establishment were pictures of the owners family, it added to the warmth of a place that felt like home.

If in the uk again we would make sure to visit.

Room Tip: We did not stay, but I imagine it would be lovely.

My wife and I stayed the night and were delighted the moment we walked in, welcoming friendly staff, a log fire and the individuality of our room. We felt like we were home, the relaxed atmosphere and attention to detail was nothing short of superb. We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea and that evening the 'Taster menu' a seven course meal which was a taste experience, the food was beautifully presented and an absolute delight.
As someone who stays in hotels for my work this was a most refreshing experience I cannot fault this hotel in any way they have raised the benchmark, we will return very soon.
