Refer earlier note 28th May 2012.
Clearly , despite a promise to remedy the faults, the owners of this hotel do not care. We stayed for one night on 25th August and experienced just the same problems:
Notice still on window advising not to open.
Noisy fans in the courtyard opposite our window operating till the early hours of the morning.
Floor covering in front of the toilet not made good.
Overflow disconnected.
Tiles missing.
Shower head retaining fitting loose -now temporarily wedged in place with a pill packet.
Images available to confirm.
Avoid room 34.

checkout staff comment -' we can not do anything about it. Head Office aware.'

my opinion - somebody ought to be looking for a new job.

Room Tip: Avoid room 34.

My wife and I attended an anniversary dinner at The Bull, Long Melford. This was to be a special occasion and one that had been planned for weeks. There were 12 guests in total and because of the numbers we were asked to provide a list of menu choices 24 hours before. The rooms were clean and comfortable but the meal was very disappointing. The soup was billed as Courgette and Mint and was completely tasteless. The tiger prawns starter were in fact little brown shrimps. One guest pointed out that she had ordered Tiger prawns and the waitress took them back to the kitchen, only to return 10 minutes later with.....Shrimps. I ordered the rump steak which came up in two small pieces. One was edible the other was all gristle and completely inedible. The star guest ordered Chicken served on a bed of sweet potatoes. the chicken was very dry and either had been overcooked or left under hot lights. I ordered the cheese board and was confronted with a wooden board holding a a bit of limp salad some biscuits and a tiny amount of cheese. I queried the quantity and asked for more and the waitress went back to the kitchen to make enquiries. She reported back that what I had been given was the standard portion. The meal cost £25 per head and I think very poor value for money considering it was a block booking. I shall not be returning again nor reccommending the venue to anybody.

We recently held our daughter's wedding at The Bull. It was perfect. The staff were very friendly and hard working. They were happy to help with all our needs going the 'extra mile' for us. Theresa was wonderful - she was very organised, friendly and extremely hard working. She went out of her way to make the day very special. The food was gorgeous and Theresa and the staff decorated the venue beautifully. The wedding went without a hitch - a truly magical day! We couldn't have asked for anything more. I would thoroughly recommend The Bull for anyone planning a wedding. I don't believe you will find a better or more friendly place. Thank you. Mrs B.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were quaint and querky as she would expect from an older building. Our room wa...

We booked to stay at The Bull for one night on a very good deal. We live locally but had a function to attend in Long Melford, as well as being able to enjoy the Long Melford Street Fair on 15th July. We were given a warm welcome, a very comfortable bed in a well-equipped room, and enjoyed an excellent breakfast. It felt as if we'd had a mini holiday!

Room Tip: As with any High Street position there will inevitably be street/traffic noise, although it coincide...

Should of stayed the week before, but do to illness we asked to change to Friday 13th,it was not a problem and was very straightforward.First appearance of the the Bull from outside was delightful, hanging baskets giving it a well kept look,on entering we were not disappointed, just as we had hoped it is very quirky with beautiful beams and old furniture. After checking in Sally took us up to our room (21) very chatty and helped us with anything we asked even offered to carry some of our bags. The room size was very good, with a massive bed, sofa, wardrobes etc.lrg TV,clean and well equipped.Bathroom a bit small, but OK.Unfortunatly we when making a cup of tea the next morning found the kettle to be mouldy inside which we had to clean out before using..Quite a noisy room due to the very busy road just out front..Breakfast cereals etc.very sparce and the fresh fruit had seen better days, but the hot cooked breakfasts were very nice, and served with a smile and a cheery enjoy!
Would we recommend ? Yes but would like a few changes....

We got married here on the 28th of june, it was perfect. Theresa the wedding coordinator was organised and informative both before the day and on the day. Nothing was too much. With my work i've met quite a few wedding coorinators and by far Theresa is the best. The day totally exceeded expectations. I didn't have to worry about anything to do with the venue and it was all done. Even to the point where we ran behind with our wedding breakfast which was my husband and my fault as we were going round talking to everyone, the staff were still very relaxed even to the point where the evening guests were arriving and we had only kjust finished. But again that was our fault for talking too much

The waiting and bar staff were very kind and relaxed the whole day. They set our tables up just how we wanted them. it looked 100 times better than i'd ever imagined. They even set the cake up which looked brilliant as we had 3 seperate tiers and flowers to go in between them.

The location is just beautiful, the village is quiet and picturesque and alot of our guests who stayed over night with us went for a walk round the village before leaving.

Just a brilliant day, if we could relive it we would in a heart beat. Thank you Bull Hotell and Theresa for a perfect day

Room Tip: Get Married here and you'll have the wedding suit, whaich is gorgeous. the melford suit is beaui...
