“Fantastic hotel”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We wanted to stop in Cambridge but the hotels were too expensive, so we opted for the next best thing, a 4* in Newmarket, only 20 minutes away. (Mentioned in the Dick Francis book "Wild Horses") I had been past last year and liked the look of it anyway.
Couldn't fault the staff, every single one of them were polite, courteous and couldn't do enough and they were very busy when we arrived on the Saturday as there was a wedding in progress and also a 70th birthday party. We ordered afternoon tea, which was lovely, and the food was amazing in the evening and at breakfast, the flavours were incredible so compliments to the chef.
My daughter and I had a look around the on site facilities; dance studio, gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi. Didn't get to use anything as there was no time but remember there is an on site spa too.
I have put some photos on here of room 211, there is another part to it but my daughter was in most of those photos!
Downside: air con in the room - I turned it off in the end, too noisy. 10% service charge automatically added to the bill, watch out for that. (Does that 10% go directly to the staff out there working there socks off? They deserve it) PARENTS! Do control your children, they shouldn't be running around a busy hotel with hot food and drinks being carried around.
All in all, I have stopped in many hotels, but this, and the Blakeney in Norfolk have to rate among the top.

Room Tip: Do you like horses...well some rooms overlook horse racing stables, ask for a room that does this if...

Whole hotel is lovely, food is good, rooms and great and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely revisit in the future as it's location is superb for all your needs. Only downside they could do with more outside space to enjoy the heat wave!!!

Had a lovely stay here last week for our anniversary and to attend the races at newmarket. I thought the place was just perfect - the room was nicely decorated overlooking horses in training, molten brown toiletries were a nice touch as was proper coffee on the tea tray instead of instant. The bed was actually the most comfortable I've slept in with big fluffy pillows I had a great night sleep. Breakfast was delicious - I had vegetarian option and really enjoyed.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - we were made to feel very welcome. We will be back!

I have not stayed here as an hotel guest but have dined here for lunch. Order your tea/coffee whilst deciding on your meal choice and it is served with delicious, home made cookies. All food is well prepared, cooked and presented served by attentive staff.

Room Tip: As previously mentioned, I did not stay overnight, merely dined but everywhere looks very clean and...

We stayed here for one night on the 4May to surprise our friends who were staying to celebrate a birthday after a day at the races-- Every thing lived up to what we had heard about the place-- The staff were extremely professional and nothing was too much trouble -- The restaurant for dinner was superb and breakfast in the same was on par with the best available anywhere -Thank you all of you in the hotel for making it a brilliant stay

We had a weekend break here for two nights in April. Greeted by a lovely receptionist and went up to a beautiful executive room. Lovely big bed and big bathroom. Overlooked the horse paddocks. Lovely Molton brown toiletries and magazines a nice touch. Very clean and decorated well.
We used the spa facilities and enjoyed using the pool/ jacuzzi/sauna etc. Nice having Molton brown toiletries in the Changing rooms also. We ate in the bar rather than the restaurant as we thought the restaurant prices were extortionate! Nice atmosphere in the bar though, although service very slow on our second night.

I would stay here again and would recommend it.

I have just spent a weekend here with my m,um & sisters on an emotional weekend away.
We arrived and we were blown away, it is stunning the grounds the reception everything!
We were allowed in our room before 2pm to unpack, amazing rooms. Big beds each, bath and a shower!
Our room overlooked the newmarket race course and the horses!
My sisters used the gym they said it was good, we used the leisure facicilites on the saturday with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a steam and my sister used the sunbed for £5!

Dinner was a 3 course at their resturant, we were served by the nicest waitress ever!! Cant remember her name but she really is a credit to your hotel.

Spa on the sunday was out of this world, we all had a massage at 1 and it was the best massage ive ever had!
The pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub outside! the beds, the rainforsest showers it was the most relaxed we've all been.

I want to thank you for such a lovely weekend where we could distance ourselves from grief.
We even paid the extra to have breakfast delivered to us in bed!!!

We are now making it a annual thing, and we cannot wait to go back!!

One con im afraid... and ive seen several other tripadvisor reviews about room 130...
I must of slept for 3 hours max as the generator room is inside the room.
Horrendous noise and they never did say on reception! That was disappointing.

Overall we will recommend to anyone to come here :)

Room Tip: middle floor rooms on the right face the gardens!
