This was a delightful stop-over en route to an extended weekend stay in Norfolk, in a picturesque village which lies at the junction of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
My sister and I had two large rooms, each for single occupancy. They were tastefully furnished, mine with a comfortable sofa and a vast king-sized double bed. The room had some nice touches, such as fabrics depicting scenes of African wildlife in a blue-on-porcelain effect, repeated on curtains and headboard, and picked up with some tasteful china items and ornaments around the room. Carpets on the stairs and hallways were in an impeccably clean beige, and the flooring in the rooms was lacquered wood with rugs scattered around.
I liked the copious quantities of Mason & Miller toiletry items, liberally available in both the rooms and the bathrooms.
I didn’t appreciate the fact that neither of our rooms had any means to lock the doors, and I was also a little disappointed that neither room had an en suite bathroom. Some of the owner’s family items seemed to be stored in the wardrobe in my bedroom, and a large stock of bedding took up a lot of the drawer space in my sister’s room.
Aside from these aspects, we were pleased with our stay here. Breakfast was well-cooked and the ingredients were fresh. The owners were kind and welcoming, and helpful with one or two of our special requests.
