An amazing place to stay Woodbridge is a lovely town to visit and walking distance from the windmill
My husband booked this for a surprise 50 th getaway , just perfect inside . Sadly we are in middle of snow storm so venturing outside was difficult. Shops and cafe shut due to weather conditions so had to stay and enjoy this perfect rest .
Upstairs the views not disappoint but very cold so wrap up warm it is worth it .
Due to steps not for faint hearted to get to the top .
The marmalade left was amazing and homemade .
Can not fault it hope to return in better weather .
We arrived a bit early, the mill was all but ready for us so we parked in the garage and strolled the short distance to our stay. The windmill has been converted to a very high standard, well thought out, spacious and comfortable, the welcoming flowers and pot of jam was a nice touch. Exploring the upper floors was chilly but very interesting as were the good views across the town. Set in a quiet residential area it was very peaceful, if it was a bit warmer we could have sat in the patio!
This is a nice place to stay, we'd love to revisit in future.
The main reason we booked was for the opportunity to spend the night in a converted windmill. We didn't research the area very much, the property itself was our main interest.
Before I touch upon the property, I just want to say how marvellous a town Woodbridge is, it's truly a lovely place to stay.
The windmill itself was incredible. Refurbished to a very high standard, and decorated very intelligently given the space to work with. Thoroughly homely, my partner and I didn't want to leave and had such a wonderful time staying here.
The upper floors of the old windmill were tremendous to explore, stunning views and a truly unique experience (assuming you haven't looked around a 200 year old windmill before).
Tessa was a helpful, and gracious host that looked after us very well, whilst giving us absolute space and autonomy of the property so it really felt like a private getaway.
We would 100% recommend this property to anyone, and genuinely look forward to staying there once again.
The location, interior of the windmill and the lovely welcome pack for breakfast and fresh flowers made the whole experience 5star.
It was a great experience living in the windmill and the views and private court yard were superb. We had very decent weather only one day of rain within our 7day stay.
We will return, thank you Tessa.
We stayed at Trickers Mill in Woodbridge for 2 nights as a base for a wedding we were attending nearby. We wanted to make a weekend of it, and explore the lovely surrounding countryside too.
Tessa was very helpful with directions and what to expect on the day of arrival. The mill is situated in Woodbridge, within a small, peaceful retirement residential area. Parking was easy, as it has its own garage. There is also a small pay and display car park a couple of mins away. On entering the mill - WOW. Its fantastic. Very cosy and homely, tastefully decorated and incredibly clean, everything looks fresh and new and all the soft furnishings are high quality. The sofa is incredibly comfortable, as is the huge, sumptious bed! The pictures do not do it justice as its actually more spacious & comfortable than it looks online.
The best part was being able to go up high into the top parts of the windmill and look out & take pictures, whilst absorbing some of the history of the mill itself. A lot of the working parts are still in tact as is the last staircase (ladder!) to the top. Not for the faint hearted, and you really do need to be very careful if you go up/down these steps. Fun though!
Location - on the first morning I walked into the centre of town and back, which is very pretty, and this took less than 15mins to do, the location is great. You can walk to & along the River Deben too. We noticed some lovely pubs and restaurants and also a cinema in town. We were staying for a wedding at Woodhall Manor (15 mins away by taxi which cost £11) and we also visited the pretty village of Orford (20mins), and the fantastic Snape Maltings (15mins) which is a shopper & foodie paradise!
We loved our relaxing stay at Trickers Mill and highly recommend this as a great base for Woodbridge and the surrounding area.
