The Granary Bed and Breakfast

Great Bealings is a good base for visiting this part of Suffolk. We enjoyed our two nights at the Granary. The room is pleasantly furnished and a reasonable size but I thought lacked character. The bed was comfortable but, as a three star reviewer has said, squeaky. The TV was also too small for the room, but OK for listening to the news in the morning. There is a very small fridge in the wardrobe, but much too small for a bottle of wine.
The breakfast was 'healthy' as other reviewers have said. It was also very enjoyable and plentiful.
The bathroom was a good size, with a shower but no bath. Towels and soaps were all fine.
We ate at The Dog pub in Grundisburgh and the Anchor pub in Woodbridge. Both were very good and highly recommended - although the Anchor lacks 'kerb-appeal' - don't be put off.
We visited Minsmere, Aldeburgh and Flatford Mill. All are well worth a visit.
Woodbridge itself looked quite quaint, although we only really drove through it, but did walk by the harbour/estuary which is quite pretty on a Summer evening.

Room Tip: There is only one room.

Beautiful rural location, wonderful hosts and an original breakfast that will not disappoint. We spent two nights here and loved it. The room is lovely and separate from the owners house allowing good privacy and the ability to cone and go as you please. really comfy bed and an idilyc rural setting. The breakfast and hospitality of the host are first rate and even better it is served in your room. Would thoroughly recommend. Notice to all pub goers, it is a 2 mile walk to Woodbridge which we enjoyed as the scenery on the way is stunning, however if walks are not your bag then the local taxi firm are very reasonable and very efficient. We used them a lot and they never failed M and R cabs. Oh and if you go, I recommend a trip to the British lader restaurant. Fantastic food and very reasonably priced.

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to submit a review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay. We will have to go and check out the Larder ourselves again soon, as it is getting mentioned a lot by our guests.

If anyone doubts that a good bed and breakfast can be better than an hotel they should stay here for a few days. Its not just the beautiful room in a perfect country setting or even the lavish breakfast, its the overwhelming care and attention Julian and Leah put into everything they do. Watch the breakfast evolve as you stay. On the first day at breakfast we only ate the home made granola with fresh fruit and greek yoghurt AND boiled eggs from the garden hens AND toast with home made jam but NOT the croissants. Next day a similar lavish breakfast arrived but the croissants had been replaced by a stack of pancakes with maple syrup, lemon and chocolate sauce. The whole experience was simply magnificent.

Room Tip: There is only one room and its great.

We have stayed at The Granary twice now and have nothing but praise. The ensuite room is thoughtfully decorated and the hosts are both friendly and accommodating. And the breakfast. We were talking about the breakfast weeks prior to our second visit. Thank you again, we will be back soon!

This is now our first choice in the area. A lovely, comfortable room; a great location; and a world-beating breakfast. A tray of croissants, bagels and toast, and amazing fresh berries and yoghurt with delicious nutty granola. The sort of bed linens that encourage you to linger under the duvet...hard-boiled eggs from their very own collection of hens...pheasants wandering about the garden as if they owned the place, and a very friendly dog keeping an eye on proceedings. The owners really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I keep using that word, and I think 'comfort' is perhaps what sums up The Granary best...everything about it seems tailor-made to make you feel comfortable in every way. I haven't even touched on the super-clean rooms or the excellent value! Great place to stay which I cannot recommend enough.

... but not too far from the best Suffolk has to offer. A lovely converted barn just right for a weekend get-away for two - and with some style. Comfortable, spacious and above all warm and cosy. I need not repeat the comments regarding breakfast except to say sadly you'll never buy the granola Leah serves. Talented and charming hosts both. We'll return if visiting the east coast again.

Julian and Leah were great hosts who made us feel welcome from the instant we met. The room's location in the restored granary, separated from the main house, was very private, quiet and peaceful. It was a very comfortable room. Julian provided suggestions for area pubs and restaurants. The two we tried on his advice were very good choices. The breakfasts were outstanding and served each morning in the room. After staying at several B&B's in other parts of the country during our tour of England, the fresh fruit, homemade granola, yogurt and fresh croissants/ breads were a welcome change from the usual full English breakfast. This B&B was perfect for our brief visit to Suffolk. Should we ever return to further explore the area, we will most certainly want to stay here again.
