The cycle hire from Avocet Sports was very reasonable, at £18 for two adult bikes, and Steve was friendly and helpful. The UFO trail is, at around three miles, a great little route, with plenty of dramatic descriptions in the accompanying leaflet to give the kids the extra-terrestrial terrors! We also managed to complete the Tang trail as well, which comes in at six miles.

The play facilities are excellent for all ages - robust and safe (maybe too safe in the case of the zip wire, according to our children, which lacks that eeek-inducing snap they love).

The visit to the forest can last all day, and the car park gates do not shut 'til late. It is, if you are not familiar with the area, recommended to build in some time trying to find the main forest centre, though; contrary to local advice, the signposting is woeful; it's a miracle the alien craft managed to locate its whereabouts.

“A trek into the unknown!”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

I visited the site with my grandchildren who wanted to visit the UFO Trail in the forest, it was well worth the visit and very interesting. There is also a cycle track going through the forest and you can hire bikes on site. There is lots of information all around and a small children's play area by the main car parking. A short wall into the forest brings you to a fantastic children's adventure park (free) where the children can climb all sorts of equipment.

“Love this place”
Reviewed 14 July 2013

Great for the family, either walking or cycling.

The trees create a great canopy and keep it cool in the heat and makes in seem eerie, considering the alleged UFO viist!

Good outdoor climbing for the children and nature trails to follow. A good days visiti if you take a picnic. Didn't see any other food opportunities availalable other than ice cream.

“Huge space, great bike trails, good adventure playground”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

We had extended access to the forest center whilst camping next door. It has great cycling trails and an adventure playground the kids (8-12 yrs old) all loved. Cycle trails vary in length from 2m to about 12m I think, but none are tricky and mountains bikes are not required. It's not overly developed...a bike hire hut that doesn't rush to get set up also sells ice creams, but this is a ncie place overall to bring your bikes or walk for a few hours
