We have been in this pub before but hadn't eaten there. It's been refurbished recently so we thought we'd try it. The food we had for lunch was excellent and we had a smoked fish sharing platter with a portion of triple cooked chips. Another person with us had the crayfish sandwich in rosé Marie sauce. There was plenty of everything and it was freshly prepared. It was all reasonably priced.

We were made to feel welcome and would definitely eat there again.

I went to Anchor on Saturday night for a belated birthday meal. I booked a day before for a table of six.

I ordered Vietnamese pork in lettuce leaves for a starter and haddock fillet with udon noodle laksa and both were fantastic. The staff were all fantastic regular coming round and asking if we required any more drinks. Pricing was reasonable, a starter and a main plus two pints of lager came to £27. I will definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed the traditional pub menu here, but better than average quality food and great service. Enjoyed the live music too, a real bonus on a cold and wet Sunday night
