“Where Lord Tennyson stayed”
Reviewed 3 March 2013

Central, comfortable, and not too expensive - this is where Lord Tennyson stayed, and he made a good choice.

The hotel's obviously old, with quaint corridors and cosy rooms. Breakfast couldn’t be better, especially the sausages.

Decent beer in the bar, which has a fireplace. An exceptionally friendly, helpful owner, called Wendy.

There’s a restaurant, but I didn’t eat there so I can’t comment on that. People coming out looked pleased.

The position’s ideal, on one side of the town square, facing the ancient Shire Hall, and only a few steps from St Mary’s - surely one of the most beautiful churches in East Anglia.

We stayed one night and found it excellent value for money. We received a lovely, warm welcome. Everywhere was very clean and the room was to a good standard considering the age of the building. We would definitely stay again

We stayed here in Jan, family had treated us for birthday. We got the suite on the top floor, there was a number of steps to climb but that didn't bother us. The room and bathroom were really spacious. The hotel was quiet as it was 1st weekend in Jan. Great location in the centre of Woodbridge and the staff were really friendly. good breakfast selection. Would definately stay again.

Room Tip: If you struggle with stairs, make sure you advise the staff as the top floor is a bit of a climb!

Nice old pub. Jolly bar busy with locals. Nice welcome. Room was quite small with a really low bed. It was comfy though and I slept well. Bathroom ok. Just needs a little bit of TLC but perfectly acceptable for a business stopover. Very friendly staff happy to help especially the girl doing the breakfast and the elderly lady who brought us coffee in the bar.

The hotel is situated in a lovely area, and was welcoming. The dinner was exceptionally good for the price and we were surprised how empty the restaurant was, but on enquiry we were told that a new chef had started very recently so I think we were there before the rush!! We were in Room 1 which was a suite and was HUGE with a lovely sitting room area and a bedroom area through an archway. Very large bathroom and all very clean. The room decor was getting a bit tired as are parts of the hotel, but the bed was extremely comfortable and everything was clean. The bar area and restaurant was very comfy and relaxed. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.

Very good location in town centre, pubs, shops and restaurants all a short walk. Car park is a bit small round the back but street parking free after 6pm. Rooms on the small side but with TV and coffee and all the usual mod cons. Shower room was only just big enough. Nice clean towels laid out on bed which was clean and comfortable. The bar downstairs was a very friendly place to have a pint and the breakfast was full English freshly cooked for an extra £5 on the room rate of £62. For a working stop over its strength is its town centre location and breakfast.

Room Tip: I had a double room nos 2 which was very quiet.

Stay in Woodbridge every year just before christmas and thought we would try the Bull for a change. The car park for the hotel was full including the surrounding area, however having made a call to the hotel the staff were very helpful, and were told to park the car in the entrance and when the lunch time guests wanted to leave we moved the car and had more then enough space to park.We were taking advantage of a DBB package. The food was better then we had expected and value for money. Being christmas there were a number of Christmas parties however we still received excellent service and we were not disturbed by the entertainment. The rooms are clean and tidy. If i have any moan about the room ours faced onto the road and the noise of the traffic is intrusive early eve, but dies down later and is not a problem at night. The staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our rest in Woodbridge as always and will stay at the Bull again.
