Stayed for Sunday night special deal (18th Sept 2011) This is a beautiful old building set in lovely grounds. The welcome at check in was courteous with our luggage taken for us as we were shown to our room.we had room 23 which was not huge, but has a modern bathroom and a lovely balcony overlooking the grounds.
Dinner was really nice, the dining room is really lovely, and the service was spot on.
Used the swimming pool whilst there, this is a nice facility and is set in what appears to be a converted barn situated just a few yards from the main building.
All in all,a great place to relax in very quiet surroundings and excellent service.

Great setting and friendly staff. Booked this at the last minute. Single rooms all appear to be in the attic with restricted headroom - Anyone over 6ft tall expect some head banging!. Breakfast was great, Menu looked good but was on the pricey side, ok for a special occasion. The pool and gym were good but on the small side - ok for a quick relaxing dip.
Overall this is a classy hotel!

Room Tip: Room 19 has a very low ceiling and exceptionally low door to ensuite (approx 5ft high!)

We stayed here for our Honeymoon and first Anniversary, we returned for our fifth Anniversary, every single stay has been amazing. We have stayed in a different room each time, the first being the Tudor Room, which has a fabulous four poster bed and a spa bath. This year our room was more modest and had a lovely balcony to sit on in the evening, which we didn't expect so was a pleasant surprise. The food is second to none, starting with canapies whilst we look through the menu, which is always difficult to choose from because all of it looks awsome! The service is excellent and chocolates after dinner is a nice touch. We hope to visit more often for lunch when passing through to visit our caravan in Kessingland. We will definitely be regular customers. Thank you for making our special occasions even more special!

Seckford Hall is gorgeous, no question about it. It's impressive that they've restored and maintained the building so beautifully. Most importantly, our room was clean and quiet, and the bathroom was nicely modern.

We did find two significant drawbacks, however. First, the bed was awful--worst night's sleep I've had in a long time. The mattress wasn't just hard (I could get used to that), it was lumpy, uneven, and incredibly narrow. Terrible. It also didn't help that a wedding reception ended in the wee hours of the morning, and a bunch of inebriated guests made plenty of noise on their way to bed.

Second, we spent a significant amount of our time hiking in Suffolk, and several staff members were clearly disappointed in our hiking boots and jeans. That would have been understandable if we had tried to eat in the restaurant for dinner, but we didn't--we just went to and from our room and had breakfast.

So all in all, this place was fine. But for the cost, it should have been much better than fine--I'd settle for a comfortable night's sleep.

My wife and I booked a stay at this beautiful hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary. We came to check in early (around 12pm). We were aware that the room may not have been ready as we had enquired the day before and were told that check-in was from 2pm, we were happy with this as we were planning on having a spot of lunch in the bar. However, when we arrived the receptionist on duty was on her mobile phone and did not acknowledge us and didnt get up from her seat, we politely waited a few minutes until we had to get her attention by tapping on the counter. When she eventually saw us she was very rude and abrupt, as if we had disrupted her. We had to ask her about our dining arrangements and was told in no uncertain terms that we had to dine at 9pm. Not a great start to our romantic night away. She was a short, middle aged lady with brown hair, I believe her name was Andrea.

When we finally got to our room we called down to enquire about the afternoon tea, which was included in our package (very nice by the way)!! We were told by the same lady that we could only have it in the courtyard restaurant even though we had seen other guests enjoying it in the garden. Luckily we saw the polite young porter John Joe who informed us that we could in fact have it in the garden too, we were very happy with his service and could not fault him at all.

Even though we had to eat late, we could not have had better service, the food was first class, I would recommened the lamb to everyone and my wife, like most ladies, certainly enjoyed her dessert!!

Check-out was 11am, this allowed us plenty of time to enjoy the well cooked breakfast served piping hot and even have enough time to walk it off in the stunning grounds after. There was a different lady on reception in the morning (thankfully) who served us straight away with no fuss and was very polite and helpful. We will certainly return to the hotel in the future despite the not so warm welcome.
