“Good stay for family wedding”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

Stayed here for a family wedding down the road a bit. The room was clean and comfortable with really comfortable beds. Usual tea and coffe in room and bar snacks were OK if not a little expensive. There is an American Golf store as part of the hotel and had a nice walk around the course. Good in-room WiFi.

All the staff were very friendly and happy to chat and joke as well as provide a good service.

If you wanted to walk to the nearest pub it is quite a way away so if drinking then hotel is probably it.

Hotel is good but maybe £75 a night to much and I had not booked breakfast which was £12.95. I did not bother and went down to the Whistlestop Cafe and nice breakfast for half the price.

If I was looking for a Golf weekend i would consider this. For Golfers there is a TV channel in the room (CH50) where the local professional walks you around the course. A nice touch.

Room Tip: Would be good to get a room with a view over the Golf course. Mine was sort of OK and I could at le...

Dear Terry
Thank you for your review - we hope you enjoyed the family wedding you attended and we were very pleased to read that you found your bedroom very comfortable and clean. We will pass on your compliments to our staff too. We appreciate not everyone wishes to eat breakfast in the hotel and staying on a B&B rate does normally work out better value for money for future reference.

We hope you will stay with us again and next time take advantage of all our golfing facilities - we were pleased to read that you really enjoyed the Pro's Tips on the bedroom TV - hopefully it will help you around the course too !

Kind regards

I was one of a party of 48 who had a one night stay with 2 rounds of golf.I found tthe hotel was very nice with helpful staff.I enjoyed the course on both days. The tea stop is an excellant idea and looked forward to. The member of staff who ran it was most helpful . Overall an excellant time and I will certainly be returning soon

Room Tip: my room was allocated. I would have preferd one overlooking the course rather than thecar park. Next...

Dear Peter
Thank you for your excellent review regarding your recent 1 night golfing break - it sounds like you and your party of 48 had a great time. We were very pleased to read that you will certainly be back to stay with us again. We were also pleased that you found our staff helpful throughout your stay and that you particularly liked the Half Way House - we will pass your compliments on to Chris, who runs it.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

I have just spent an enjoyable two days at Ufford Park, playing golf with friends. The location is beautiful, with autumn colours evident all over the golf course. Hotel rooms are clean and pleasant. The staff are very helpful. A good value break for £105 including golf.
Only negative points are the squeaky beds (mine and all the others' apparently, I only slept in one!) and the poorly-designed swimming pool area which is clean but contains lots of iron stairways, making it appear not very accessible. Two plastic palm trees, an old stair lift and photocopied signs for changing rooms and toilets do not add to the ambience. However, the pool was staffed which is good to see. The sauna, jacuzzi and steam room were clean and pleasant. I enjoyed my first try at the excellent driving range.

Room Tip: Enjoyed my view overlooking putting green and fountain.

Dear Wendy
Thank you for your lovely review regarding your recent value for money golfing break with us - we were delighted to read that you loved the golf course, the food and the helpfulness of our staff. We will investigate further your squeaky beds - we are in fact in the process of replacing several of our bed bases and mattresses so we feel confident that next time you stay with us you will also enjoy a squeak free nights sleep too.

We appreciate your comments about the swimming pool but the reason there are several sets of stairs is because of providing access from 3 different levels so sadly we can not improve this, but things like the photocopied signs can be.

We were pleased you got the chance to try out 2 storey floodlit driving range too - it is in fact the only one in East Anglia! We have just had brand new Srixon balls delivered so you must come back again soon to try them out.

We look forward to welcoming you and your friends back again very soon and because we are a top winter golf course - you can come and play all year round!

Kind regards

Oh Dear.....Oh Dear.....Oh Dear.......Not sure where to start, but lets start with the room, lets just say uncomfortable, with no view, infact our view was of a brick wall which overlooked the car park and with no comfortable chairs to sit in and if you are looking for a lie in, forget it as I can tell you that the dust cart arrives at 6.15 in the morning and makes sure that any thought of a lie in is now a past memory.....Now lets go for the food...we didn't fancy the restaurant at all infact we jumped in the car and drove the short distance to Woodbridge and had a reaaly good dinner at The Crown (this where we should have stayed at), we had a early breakfast (thanks to the dust cart) and the only thing that I can say about the breakfast is terrible; we tried to change our room but we were met by a very unhelpfull reception saying that there were no rooms with a view of the golf course available but they could offer a upgrade at a upgraded price of £40 (we said no to this) just to be met by a shrug of shoulders by the reception staff.

Any one who is thinking of going to stay here, think again as this place is not a place to go!!

Room Tip: None there aren't any that we could see

Dear Giles we appreciate that you are of course entitled to your opinion but reviewing us as terrible we feel was very harsh, particularly when many of your complaints were so vague. For instance you 'just didn't fancy the restaurant' or that the breakfast was 'just terrible' - we take all complaints very seriously but can not improve if specifics are not mentioned. You say that you were woken up by a dust cart, having investigated further it was in fact a food delivery van from a local supplier, but we have not been made aware before by any other guests that they were so noisy, so we will speak to them about this for future guests - thank you.

You said you were disappointed not to have a room with a view and were not prepared to pay for one which did - as you can imagine our rooms with views do sell very quickly and guests are prepared to pay a supplement to guarantee this, so depeding on how short notice you booked your room it may well be that only Premier Rooms were still available to guests to upgrade into, especially during peak season - but saying that you were met by unhelpful reception staff is most out of character as you will see from many other previous reviews, so we will look into this immediately. We assume you meant that the bed itself was uncomfortable as opposed to the whole room and we will look into this matter as well as adding more chairs for comfort. We are in the process of replacing some of our mattress over the winter months so the matter of discomfort is being addressed. Unfortunately the hardness of mattresses is always very personal, some guests like them firm whilst others prefer softer beds.
We were pleased that you had a very nice meal at the Crown Hotel - they have an excellent reputation with their food and are a small boutique style 4 star hotel, which perhaps may have suited you more if your budget was sufficient enough, but being located right in the middle of the town centre may still have caused you problems with noise if you are a light sleeper.

Best wishes

We stayed in the self catering family rooms in chalet flat no 418. i would advise NOT booking this chalet flat as they have a staff member living above who just NEVER STOPS MOVING ABOUT. The floor above is thin and every movement can be heard and this person just never stopped walking around. It was very disruptive and annoying, and though the Manager came to investigate nothing was resolved and they couldnt move us to another room. We complained every day and nothing was done. Also the heating is a wall mouted heater which just blows against the blinds and is very noisy, and not effective - it will be useless in winter time and the rooms would be cold. The chalet flat was located on the green and unfortunately we had to have the blinds half closed as passing golfers and public were looking in at us! Also rooms were not cleaned every day during our stay. Breakfast OK and serving staff in restaurant helpful and the pool was nice, but Management were indifferent to our noise concerns. Due to dissatisfaction we had to ask for a reduction, and they grudingly gave a nominal reduction. Lovely area shame about the hotel. Definitely NOT a good experience so if you do decide to stay AVOID CHALET FLAT 418.

Room Tip: avoid chalet flat no 418

Dear Mary
Thank you for your recent review regarding your stay with us in our 2 bedroom apartment (The Blyth/Chalet 418) - we were pleased to read that you found our breakfast staff, indoor swimming pool & surroundings lovely. Naturally with all complaints we look into these and take them very seriously - therefore having investigated your review about noice and indifferent management staff it seems that our staff DID do everything they could to assist you with your concerns about the noice coming from above. This particular room is very popular with guests, especially families because of having 2 seperate bedrooms and its own kitchette but we have not (to date) received any complains before about noice coming from above. Our management did in fact offer you an alternative room but you did not wish to move, and this was done on more than one occassion. One of our managers even sat with you for almost half an hour listening for noice but could not hear anything disturbing. The member of staff living above was of course spoken to and she was so worried about upsetting you further that she even started listening to her TV through headphones and keeping as still as possible whilst in her room, to try and help, but even this did not plicate you. Of course we were very sorry we could not do anything to satisfy you, but we do feel we did our very best to and it certainly wasn't ''begrudingly'' when we offered you a discount for your disappointment .

Kind regards

I'm prompted by a previous review remarking upon 'rude and ignorant bar staff'..... I've been staying at the Ufford Park regularly for the past 12+ months and I would not be returning if the staff were rude and/or ignorant.

Indeed, I wouldn't return if the floors were sticky or the tables were anything less than clean.

The reason I have come back each time is exactly the opposite. I know what I'm getting when I check in..... friendly, professional staff with a speedy check in process. I wander along the clean corridor to a clean, spacious well equipped room (most with lovely views).

The food is fresh and hot.... and reasonable value (slightly random plates for the bar menu but always makes me smile!!).

Can't comment on the Spa but as far as the rest of the hotel goes.....I am very fussy...... I wouldn't come back if it wasn't clean and comfortable as a minimum and in my humble opinion..... the Ufford Park exceeds clean and comfortable.

Dear Bob
Thank you for your fantastically supportive review of Ufford Park, and the fact that you regularly stay with us and have done so for over a year means even more to us. We were delighted to read that you are impressed with our excellent staff, comfortable bedrooms and cleanliness of our facilities on EVERY visit, otherwise you would not choose to stay with us. This reassures us that we ARE consistently getting it right for the large majority of our guests.

We very much look forward to welcoming you back again very soon.

Stayed here 2 nights whilst travelling with work. Everything was neat and tidy, and looks newly renovated.
Room is a neat twin with new bathroom, and about as much as you'd expect from a Best Western.
Golf facilities look good, although lack of planning on my part meant I didn't bring my clubs. Luckily you can hire for free.

I didn't try the spa, so can't really comment,

Staff all friendly, which is always a plus.

Recommended as a place to stay if you need somewhere locally.

Thank you very much for your positive review regarding your recent 2 night corporate stay. We were pleased to read that you found your room clean, neat & tidy and our staff very helpful and friendly.
You did mention that we were ''about as much as you would expect from a Best Western'' - we were not sure if that meant your expectations were low or high, but thought you would be interested to know that as from the 5th November we are in fact breaking away from the Best Western marketing umbrella and going it alone. We have always been independently owned and run but from November will now be marketed simply as ourselves Ufford Park Woodbridge (not Best Western Ufford Park).
We look forward to welcoming you back again next time you are in the area on business and that you will get the chance to either play the golf course or visit the spa. You may not have been aware that access to the health club is included for free in your stay so remember your swimming things too.

Kind regards,
