Very interesting exhibition and walk around the mounds - re-motivated to see the originals in the British Museum. Cafe building well planned with covered outside seating - a very enjoyable visit.

So what's in a few grassy mounds on a fairly exposed site? Amazing history and buried treasure, that's what. Take the conducted tour if you want close access to the mounds but make sure you take a good look at the display and read the info in the visitors' centre first. We didn't have time to do that before the tour (lasts a good hour) and I felt that I would have liked a better grounding in the history before I started, as the information imparted to us was from an amazingly knowledgeable guide (Sue) and I didn't really appreciate all of what she had to say until I looked over the display later. Easy parking, reasonably good café on site, friendly and helpful staff. Go in good weather if you can.

I've been meaning to visit Sutton Hoo for a long time, it lived up to expectations and was very interesting.

A really good exhibition, free to NT members, which, together with Ipswich Museum's explains just how sophisticated these 'Dark Age invaders' were. If you can put up with the irrelevances, the guided tour is worth the £2.50 for you get to enter the site and actually stand on the mounds. You have to walk 500 metres to reach the mounds.

Not sure what I expected here, but the exhibitions are superb. The burial mounds themselves are what you'd expect - just large mounds in the earth, but it's a nice walk round.
