“Nice day out”

A nice walk through the woods leading up to great views. On a clear day the views are excellent and there is a viewfinder at the top of the tower to help you look.

“A great place for a walk and a cuppa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

We used to go to Leith Hill very regularly some years ago and it was great to go back. Little has changed although hot drinks are now in mugs. A piece of cake at the top was always a highlight and a huge slice of Bakewell did not disappoint.

There are now plenty of benches and from the south you get a great view of open countryside and in the distance Gatwick airport. a clamber up the Tower gives an even better view to both the north, where you can just see the London skyline, and Gatwick

Lots of walks in the area and plenty of parking.

It is a lovely place to spend a few hours

Lovely setting with great views. Cafe at top sells coffee etc. and hearty snacks but bring your own lunch as lots of seats and picnic areas etc.

“Hidden highlight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2014

Have been to Leith Hill a couple of times, once on a fine summer day with the views far reaching and clear. Another time on a foggy winter day, with the South Downs rising out of the mists like islands. Both times beautiful. Admission to the tower is free for NT members and is worth the view. There are indicators at the top showing notable landmarks and distances. There are several car parks in walking distance and various walks through the woods. I will return as there are many more walks to do. In addition, very quiet and peaceful, even in summer.

“Beautiful view in stunning countryside”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014 via mobile

I live near Leith Hill and walk here virtually every day. I'm very lucky to live in such a beautiful place, so will always rate it highly.

A few pointers for those who haven't visited before:
1. The tower is now open every day but both it and the cafe close by 3pm in the winter months. There is however the Tanhouse Farm shop at the bottom of the hill.
2. The shortest and flattest walk to the tower along an easy path is from Stareveall car park to the West.
3. There are lots of different walks to try but one of the nicest (with one steepish climb) is signposted is from Coldharbour village. Take the track opposite the pub up the hill and follow the signs bearing left at the top. The walk is about 50 minutes for those who are fairly fit.
4. There is a beautiful rhododendron wood which is very pretty in May - the car park is signposted just off the Leith Hill Road.
5. Much of the area is carpeted in bluebells in April/May, but the best place to see them is not at the top of the hill. Instead from the A29 take Broomehall Road and you will see beautiful displays on both sides. Please DO NOT park on this road as farm vehicles use it all the time and it's quite narrow. Instead if you want to walk, park in a car park at the top and walk down.
