Stayed for 4 nights, part business, part family event. A beautiful setting next to a well maintained golf course but golf clearly takes precedence, it's a pity the same attention to detail isn't focused on the hotel.
Over flights from Gatwick Airport are a problem from 6am and the putting green is mown at 7.30 every morning, so if the aircraft don't wake you the mower will.
Signage and lighting are poor so if you arrive in the dark you'll find it difficult to find your way around the hotel and to park and you may as I did, bottom out on the poorly maintained road to the car park at the back of the hotel. Interestingly, the roads used by members are well maintained. Two lightbulbs had gone in my room, the balcony door couldn't be locked after it had been opened, there were no tissues and no fan in a room that was very warm on arrival. From a business perspective, wireless broadband access was problematic throughout my stay and the staff clearly know that this is a recurring problem which neither BT nor the hotel's network service provider have solved. Signal strength in my bedroom, above the router was very poor and when working repeatedly dropped out. The link dropped out again as I was typing this.
I had 3 devices, non of which could connect with any certainty or continuity.

Breakfast was mediocre, limited menu, overipe spoiling fruit left in the fruit bowl, no plain yogurt, no cereal bowls or menus untill asked. The morning after I arrived I overheard the hotels gas safe contractor reporting that he had condemned the kitchen fryer. The staff were helpful and responded positively to matters drawn to their attention but the hotel has a poorly maintained, worn at the edges feel, they should stick to golf, which is clearly the organisation's priority.
The hotel and the restaurant have a poorly maintained, worn at the edges feels.

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago for a golf break(2 night, 3 rounds). Room was not overly big but was nicely decorated and had everything you need. The golf course was very nice and in good condition although the yardage discs in the fairway are very confusing if you dont have a stroke saver to tell you what they mean(they are different on every hole). Food on the Saturday night was very good, same menu for the Sunday night, but not up to the same quality, however perfectly acceptable. Bar prices also pretty decent, so often you go away on a golf trip and get ripped off with the bar prices, not here. Free Wifi throughout was good, although had a few times when it was down. I am sure we will be returning in the not too distant future.

Arrived to check in at 10.30pm no one on reception after searching for half an hour found a barman who grudgingly gave us our key and showed us to room (no offer of help with luggage). 'Deluxe' room shabby, over bath shower with no shower curtain! Wi fi unobtainable despite being advertised. Breakfast spoiled by awful pop music. Won't stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from golf course - no noise at dawn from early bird golfers.

I would like to apologise that your experience with us failed to meet your expectations. Whilst our reception area does close at 8pm, alternative arrangement to seek help in the Clubhouse are clearly displayed and a member of the team should have been able to help you effectively.

Our Manor House rooms are decorated in keeping with property and priced accordingly but I can appreciate if it was not to your taste. We do have background music playing during the breakfast service but we would have been happy to turn this down or indeed off if this had been requested at the time. Many of our guests comment on the friendliness of our staff, the relaxed nature of their stay and the value for money that we offer, this is indeed what we pride ourselves on, again I can only apologise if this has not been the case during your visit.

we stayed here recently as we attended a wedding reception in a pub nearby. we were given a warm welcome at reception and check in was fast. our room was amazing, really big with a lovely balcony and view of the golf course. we had a great night sleep and enjoyed using our roll top bath! i did notice that the window fixings needed a bit of care and the balcony wouldnt have been safe for children but the room was great for us. the breakfast was great as it was cooked to order rather than a buffet so it was lovely and hot rather than food sitting out for a while. beware of taxis as unless you get the very local one, if you have to get a taxi from outside the area a 5 minute journey to the local pub to collect our car the next day cost £20!! i usually pay for just my journey when i get in a taxi but this one charged me for his journey from horsham to get to us! that was a bitter end to the stay but the hotel was great and not to blame for this, but just a warning to anyone needing a taxi!!

Thanks for posting your review and glad to her that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. I have passed your comments regarding the taxi on to our reception team and whilst I can appreciate that being a little further out, taxi fares can be a little higher than normal you should not have been charged for the journey to collect you. We will endeavour to work to make sure this does not happen again.

We have stayed at Gatton many times on short golfing breaks and have always enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and welcoming staff - not to mention the value for money. We decided to host our 60th birthday party there last weekend. We could not have asked for more. The hotel had hosted a wedding the day before and there was a slight concern that some attention to detail might be lacking. We needn't have worried - from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by a committed team who met all our needs which were quite diverse. We booked the whole hotel for an overnight stay, including golf for over 80 people. Gatton produced a lovely barbecue in the evening and accommodated the need for dance floor and arrangement for our band and performing artists. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff, as ever, and management team were happy, smiley, and efficient. We thank them very much. Keith and Debbie Fisher.

Room Tip: Manor deluxe rooms - great value. Great view

Have been two years running on a family golf break and am looking forward to next year already. There is nothing flash about the facilities and the course, however the relaxed and friendly staff and members make up for it in bundles, even the smiling kind lady at the half way hut was brilliant. I warm to the course every time I play it is a great and interesting challenge for me as a single figure handicap and for family who only play a handful of games a year they enjoy it immensely. As said the facilities are basic, simple and great value and affordable. The food was excellent and the breakfast very moorish before heading out. If one is looking for a venue which is basic offers great and friendly value with an interesting and challenging course which is in average condition this ticks all the boxes.
