the restaurant and breakfast area was stunning, a blend of traditional and contemporary styling creates a relaxing atmosphere, then when the food arrives with excellent presentation and service, the taste finishes it off, with good local ales to help wash it down.
The accommadation all finished to a high spec, with spacious rooms, tv and all the norm.
A highly recomended trip.

The run down room, excuse last to be refurbished,..Why was bathroom filthy,?nice touch of a light fitting filled with dead flies, broken fittings in shower/bath No excuse,.The only thing was a set of clean sheets & we were tired, Otherwise we would left,. Next No forthcoming excuse for the 1/2 size uncooked sausage & part cooked bacon,...all for a special discounted £75pn, down from £100, I 'm given to believe this place belongs Duke of Northumberland, Very poor showing..Much better deals at our later hotels,

A glance at the luchtime menu shows 11 choices of starter, 7 choices of sandwiches, and 26 choices of main dishes, plus 'specials'.

"They can't possibly do all that well", I thought, and I was right.

Burger and chips is my default choice when trying somewhere new: If they can get that right, all bodes well for the rest of the menu.

Not so in this case. My burger was tiny, over-seasoned with sage (sage with beef?) and topped by a tomato 'salsa' which seemed to comprise no more than a bit of chopped onion in tomato ketchup. Moreover it was served on a greasy-looking board - my pet hate for pubs trying to get away with stingy portions. Chips were few, and didn't seem freshly-cooked at all.

Looking round the table, those who'd ordered the fish and chips or sandwiches fared slightly better; these looked appetising. One of my group ordered the 'soup of the day' - a poor effort at leek and potato with the colour and texture of nasal mucus. How she ate it I don't know.

The young waiter who served us was perky and friendly, bringing a bowl of water for the dog without us even asking, however the woman behind the bar had a rather sour demeanour - not at all welcoming.

In short, go somewhere else. There are lots of excellent pubs in the area which offer far better food for less. You don't need to waste your time/money on this one.

Just had my sons wedding at the drummond arms. Absolute wonderful day. Jay and his staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us. The wedding breakfast was first class as was the venue. The evening buffet as also first class. Stayed at the hotel as did all the family and the rooms were very nice, clean and very adequate. No complaints at all with anything this was said by all of the wedding party at least 80 people of ages. Thanks again Jay and your staff for all you did. Mother of the groom.

We had to find somewhere to stay in the Guildford area last weekend and discovered that everywhere was very busy. Through Laterooms, we found the Drummond Arms, which was a bit further away from the event we were attending than we should have liked. But we were very lucky. Our room was perfectly comfortable, but the outstanding factor was the exceptional staff. They were universally friendly, courteous and most efficient. The bar, dining room and breakfast were all above average. We shall call again.

On arrival I was shown to a room in the annex. The room was very small, poorly lt and disgustingly dirty. The towel provided, and pictured, was totally beyond use as it was heavily bleached and frayed. Indeed, cheap towels purchased from Sainsburys are hardly acceptable in commercial accommodation. Further, the kettle was so full of limescale it wasn't fit for use. The bathroom was twice the size of the twin room and appeared to have been recently refurbished - though the fittings were not plumbed in properly. There was also no WiFi as advertised.

I was allocated a different room after complaining, which provided some improvement as it was in the main pub building. There was however considerable noise from a dishwasher below the room that operated overnight. The tv provided access to only BBC one and BBC two.

The breakfast was passable but certainly nothing to shout about. Would wholeheartedly not recommend and will certainly not be returning!

We were booked for two nights but only stayed one. One was enough. To be fair, the pub and restaurant have been nicely refurbished and the prices reflect this. As for some of the rooms, basic improvements would do a lot. Our first allocated room was above the kitchen. We thought we could deal with the smell (quite strong) of stale cooking. We couldn't have the window open because there was a vent just outside it from the kitchen area. Then the industrial kitchen extractor fan came on and we couldn't concentrate on the reports we were trying to write. We stay in hotels a lot, and this is the first time in a year that we have had to ask to be moved to another room. We were taken over to the annex which was quieter at first. However everytime the people upstairs walked across the room, the ceiling vibrated and the central lamp literally swung about. The room smelled damp and musty, and the carpets looked very dirty. The cord switch in the bathroom was black with grime and the lampshade had brown stains all over it. And the icing on the cake? A mousetrap behind a curtain in the corner of the room! We were kept awake all night with the creaking ceiling above us, and the thought a mouse could come exploring at any moment. I'm sorry but for £75 a night this was just not up to par. We've stayed in much cleaner, better maintained accommodations for considerably less.

Room Tip: If you choose to stay here, ask to see your room first and make sure you don't have the room ove...
