“Very Disapointed - Worst service I've ever seen”
Reviewed 11 March 2013

My in-laws visited us from Australia in December 2012, we decided that Angel hotel will be perfect as its in the town centre but we hadn't counted for the unhelpful staff. On the first morning in-laws were refused breakfast staff claiming that they haven't paid for it, took them 30 mins to figure out that it was already paid for with manager never there to deal with problems its hardly a surprise. Second morning when father in law turned the light on it fused with sparks flying out and causing a blackout in the room. After all this not a single apology from any staff member, on top of all that we have now discovered that they have overcharged our credit card, we have called, e-mailed, visited and left number of messages at reception for manager to explain the overcharge but never received any response. I would avoid this place disappointing service.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The Hotel is on the main high street and in an excellent location, only 10 mins from the train station. The hotel is full of character and charm, the room was of a good standard and was very large, we also had a 4 poster bed! Breakfast was included in the price and was of good quality. Would recommend this hotel.

The hotel itself was a gem, the staff very helpful & friendly. My room wasn't what i was expecting. I had been excited prior to going thinking i had booked room with a four poster bed. Never been in one so was a bit let down to know that i didn't actually get it. Room was clean & tidy, view was not appealing. Looked out onto a roof. But then i wasn't there for the view. Rooms were named, i was hoping for a romantic name book related seeing as i work for Waterstones, But Got Cromwell, lol not very romantic :) Would stay again, but would make sure before booking what i have actually got. If i had spoken one to one i know they would of made everything perfect because they were very helpful when i got there. But i had booked through a booking site. My mistake..

This hotel is in Guildford high street. Right in the main centre. A beautiful old building dating back centuries. The rooms are in keeping with the period building, large and clean as are the bathrooms. The bed was so big it could have slept 4!
The staff are very helpful and polite.
Breakfast was great and very good value.
The only downers for us were we had a view of next doors roof and it was a little pricey. But we only stayed one night so didn't matter.

The hotel is a traditional period hotel decorated in such style. Lots of corridors, small stairs and bespoke rooms. Not that good those less able, but I guess you will be able to request a room more suitable. The new restaurant serves up a great range of good fresh food and the breakfast is superb.
The only downside is that the hotel has no bar, but there lots of pubs close to the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the back of the hotel.

We recently went to Guildford for a friend's wedding, which was being held at Losely Hall. We had an excellent experience at this hotel. We had found an great offer and then upgraded to one of their suites. It was quietly luxurious with a historical touch, to say the least, and the bed not only enormous but very comfortable: I could have rolled over 5 times before falling over at the other side. The design of the room was suitably tasteful: nothing over the top. The hotel itself is labyrinthine, with weaving corridors throughout the house. You really have to think to make your way back, which we loved! We made the mistake of staying in a room overlooking the High Street, so I didn't sleep all night as I'm a light sleeper. My partner slept straight through it. We had a nice enough breakfast the next morning. When we let the hotel management that we did not sleep well although we had asked for a quiet room, they were quick to make amends by offering a partial refund. This is a hotel that obviously cares about its' clientele's opinion, certainly a rare quality these day. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the High Street are noisy at night with revelers, so opt for a quieter room ov...

My main reason for staying at this hotel was it's location on High St. I expected it to have a lot of character, which of course it has, but wasn't expecting that there wouldn't be anyone at reception when I arrived. Not a great first impression, as it took over 10 mins before I saw anyone. Room was huge, not very clean and noisy (from street outside). Renovation work made entrance very dusty. Was surprised price wasn't greatly reduced given condition of lobby area. Didn't have breakfast during my stay, so can't comment on that. Overall, only saw one other guest and found it a bit spooky. That was probably because I was alone. Net access was very poor, couldn't use it unfortunately.
