Description: The Good Intent Public House is located in Puttenham, Surrey, on the pilgrims way between Guildford and Farnham, near the villages of, Wanborough, Shackleford and Compton. The Good intent is a popular pub with Puttenham locals, being both child-friendly and dog-friendly and is also popular with the many visitors that travel to the area, to visit local landmarks and enjoy many of the fine walks and bike rides in the Surrey countryside. The good intent features a large inglenook fire place, wood beams through out making the Good Intent a really nice and cosy place to eat, drink or just hangout with your friends and family. Please note: Although we are a 'Child friendly pub', due to the nature of the building it's self we don't have facilities for infants. Please bear in mind that we are a traditional pub that serves Pub food, not a restaurant or a gastro pub and that the Good Intent is a pub that's still a pub and more of an adult environment, all children must be accompanied by responsible adult(s). Friendly and socialized dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Uncontrollable/unbehaved dogs or children will be asked to leave.

“Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2013

Went there for Sunday lunch, roast beef.carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, roast potatoes. The food was cooked to perfection. For dessert I had bread and butter pudding and custard, custard was nice, but sadly the bread and butter pudding was disappointing, probably brought in from food suppliers, which was a shame,as the 1st course was all home cooked food delicious!.Service was very good. All in all,a very nice lunch, and will go again.

“Lovely REAL pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

We chanced on this lovely little pub in Puttenham, well we are so glad we decided to go inside ! We had Sunday lunch and it was cracking. Fabulous choice on the menu. We plumped for roast. A bit of a chance to take we always feel. We choose well, the roast beef and the roast pork were really good and a massive amount of meat for both of us. It feels like a real country pub which of course it is. Lovely decor and artefacts. We felt the staff were lovely and friendly and welcoming. We will go back to this establishment again.

“Miles better than others in the area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2013

We visited this pub on a Saturday night and easily got a table for dinner without having to wait/queue like many others in the area. The bar staff were nice and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food and were very satisfied when it arrived. Generous portions and well presented all for very reasonable prices. Only negative is the slight odour of dog but its a locals pub so you can look past that.

“Terrible food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2013

The beer is well looked after and there's always a large range, but the food is just so bad. Last time I ordered a burger and chips. The burger arrived really quickly but was so dry with a hard crust. It can only have been pre-cooked and warmed up. Over half the plate was filled with a side salad which is a complete waste for me. They should cut down on the salad, serve more chips and use the savings to accept that not all food will be purchased. Rather than pre-cook everything and store in the fridge for weeks. I've tried the ham before but that's pot luck on how fresh it is.

“Good food, Good company”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013

I visit the Good Intent on approximately a monthly basis on a Friday evening and the place is really buzzing. Kate, Gavin and staff provide a hospitable welcome to regulars and visitors alike, there is always a selection of good beers to wash down the excellent food.
The regular customers are also extremely friendly to the likes of us 'Irregular regulars', which makes visits even more pleasurable.
The periodic beer festivals they hold are also a lot of fun and most enjoyable so top marks all round for Food, Drink, Olde World atmosphere and Friendly People.
