We recently stayed here for a wedding and have to say the staff were amazing - nothing was too much trouble they were so welcoming and rfiendly and went the extra mile to make sure that the Bride & Groom's every wish was pandered to.
The rooms were clean and spacious with plenty of character, although a little bit outdated. The food was excellent for the wedding breakfast. But thought the bar menu you could do with a bit of updating it was more pub grub than restaurant quality - but tasty none the less. Would definitely recommend it for a wedding venue.

Room Tip: The hotel doesn't have lifts so if you have mobility issues ensure they are aware of this at tim...

Spa facilities are the saving grace. Lovely pool, steam room and sauna. Gym looked well equipped and new but we didn't use it. Rooms are nothing different from Travelodge, so nothing to recommend or detract. Staff very friendly but may not be everyone's cup of tea. Look beyond the obvious and they are all lovely people. Now, food. The menu was such a throwback, I was disappointed not to see chicken in a basket. If you go expecting 70's pub grub, you won't be disappointed. The measure of the place is that we still had a great time despite the foibles. In fact, that's almost what makes the place. And strangely, we will go back.

We arrived at 2.30, a little earlier than the 3pm check-in but our room was ready and as soon as we said our names they said they were expecting us. We were given our key and a little card so we could charge things. We'd already paid for our room as it was a late booking. They knew we needed a breakfast pad to book an early (6.15) breakfast in our room, we chose tea and coffee, orange juice and toast and marmalade. We could have had cereals too but we're not rice crispie people! You can have croissant but not until 7 for some reason. I can see why people thought it was a strange hotel but we loved going up the stairs and round the corner, down some stairs, round another corner and down some more stairs to end up in room 2 which was above the Reception where we'd just come from! The room was spacious, had a small seating area and a very small ensuite shower room but was more than adequate. Had a wander round the hotel and into the spa area. The staff were great, welcoming and explained what to do when we were ready for a swim. There are changing rooms, showers, lockers for your clothes (you will need a £1 coin) and towels so you don't need your own. We went shopping and came back for a swim. Again we were welcomed by Reception and the spa staff. Had a lovely swim, the boiler was obviously fixed! Went in the steam room which has pretty coloured lights in the ceiling, the shower outside is cool and has a bucket of cold water you can tip on yourself. The Jacuzzi next to the pool is lovely, hot and bubbly. If the bubbles turn off look at the wall behind you, there's a sensor - wave at it and the bubbles come back on - took us a while to work that one out! There are hairdryers in the changing room which is great. Booked a table at the restaurant for much later. Reception let us know they had an event when they would be serving the main course between 8.15 and 8.45 so to avoid those times if we didn't want a long wait. We booked for 8.45. By the time we'd had a drink we were shown to our table which we picked ourselves. The menu was a bit 70s! Prawn cocktail and a cheeseboard on the menu which I haven't seen for a while but it tasted nice. Hubby had the sausage and mash which you'll see in the photos was generous and I had a burger which again was huge, I could only eat the middle. The food was hot and filling and tasted nice. We couldn't manage dessert even though we were tempted by the cheeseboard, they had both hot and cold desserts but just didn't have room! Back to our room for an early night, we could hear vague noise but really nothing which would stop you sleeping and we certainly couldn't hear the people next door. Got a good nights sleep, breakfast turned up at 6.15 as requested and we checked out with no bother at all. All the staff were really helpful. The barman could've been a bit quicker but there was only him on the bar and serving the food. All in all a good stay. We've heard its in administration and there will be new owners. We might have to revisit to see the changes as shopping in Guildford is great!

Room Tip: Room 2 was nice - was above reception at the front, might be noisy in summer as bar seating area is...

My husband and I had a fantastic time at our wedding, The staff were great and very attentive. We were really impressed and so were all our guests. We stayed for the weekend and many of our guests stayed for one or two nights and they were impressed too. We also had a 7 piece band and the hotel was really accommodating to them. We would recommend the venue for a wedding and also to stay at and definitely be visiting again. It was really good value for money and it was perfect! Thank you so much:-)

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite was amazing although my husband said the bed was a bit soft for him, I thought i...

Booked the dinner bed and Breakfast Valentines special. Specifically booked this hotel rather than the others in the group for the pool and jacuzzi etc on the basis that I could spend a relaxing afternoon waiting for my husband to finish work. Had to call twice to get email confirmation of booking, and twice to try and find out what the dinner menu was! Arrived lugging two overnight cases, no offer of help to get up the stairs and told dinner was already booked in for 7 - too early as my husband wouldn't arrive by then! had to argue the case and was grudgingly given 7.45. Room ok, but tired and attention to detail needed in cleaning. Got the same reception from spa staff that Cassandra M did (at this point no one had told me about the boiler!) Got to use the steam room and that was it as pool and jacuzzi ice cold. When I came out appeared one member of staff was having a meal at his counter! Dinner was very disappointing. Tacky chocolate rose on my place setting, Starter of terrine ice cold, chewy and not enjoyable. The main course for my husband had to be sent back as inedible as so overcooked, the dauphinoise sent back twice as so undercooked they were also inedible. Wine ordered was just dumped on th table! Dessert was good luckily as we would have been a bit hungry. Walls are indeed paper thin, and I can confirm that the couple next door to us are obviously very much in love :-) Breakfast a complete disapointment , scrambled eggs only no fried or poached. Tinned tomatoes, no fresh ,Anemic sausages, processsed sliced bread. Not somewhere I would ever book again. Found out on the way out the the group is in administration - beautiful building and location, such a shame as if the managment don't up their game, cant see this surviving. Ironically its an email from the reception of this hotel asking me to write a review that has prompted me to do it!

Overall wew had a fabulous time when we stayed at the Manor House, again; it's now become something of a tradition, which began before we got married at that venue in 2013. We'd stayed once for a Valentine's Package (when we happened to get the honeymoon suite), which then made it rather difficult to find any other venue which combined the location, the quality of food and staff, tha facilities and so on. The only slight downside, this time, was that the pool and sauna were both suffering from a broken boiler. The pool was nigh on ice cold, & the sauna was far cooler than usual. Nevertheless, the staff and the room, pus the evening meal (& free box of Lindor!), were up to their usual excellent standard. We'll certainly be visiting again next February 14th...;)
